i hate i love it...damn transmission

ok heres the thing with my tranny...it sucks. sometimes it will not go into first for a while. wont go into second very easy either. grinds in almost all gears. i hate it. but i spanked at mustang gt tonight thats why i love it.
i talked to a guy at an auto parts store tonight and he said just changing the trans fluid can work wonders..i was planning on doin this anyway he suggested just normal valvoline 80-90 i think..should i go with syncrmesh he said he can order it..also how many bottles will i need?

Three (1 qt./ea.) bottles of Synchromesh will do it. It'll definitely help with the grinding, but you may want to consider a rebuild sometime in the future.

I hated sycromesh in mine. I just pulled that crap out the other day and put redline in much better, but i didn't have grinding issues before either. It was a fresh rebuild.

To each his own. Do you mind telling us why you didn't like Synchromesh though? It might benefit the original poster to hear your reasons.

If you want some good tranny fluid go with Redline MT90 car shifts like a dream should help alot with your grinding problem aswell.

It was real notchy, and it didn't shift smoothly into the next gear. It kinda caught from 2-3, made me miss alot of shifts. Since I put the redline in i can now downshift 1st at 60, not that its needed but that tells me that the syncros are working alot better now. Also I put a mix of 1qt mtl and topped it off with mt-90.

Now i have no idea about the fluid...But i do i think i know a way to fix a liltle bit of these problems or maybe all. I think my clutch needs adjusted. When i start the car it lunges forward like i am starting it without the clutch. I think my clutch is having problems engageing and disengageing...How do you fix that?(without buying a new clutch this one is 700 miles old)
