Damn Transmission

So I haven't driven my car for about five months now sosad: ) because no one can seem to find a transmission for it. My differential went out and took the tranny down with it... Has anyone else had this much trouble finding a transmission?
P.S. I am referring to a used one.

have you tried just going to a junk yard and having them yank one for you? i wouldnt think it would be very difficult to find a totaled GST with a good tranny. Or you could just get yours rebuilt. that might be cheaper depending on what got destroyed.

Are you just looking for a stock tranny?

You can always buy rebuilt one from shepard?

The speed enthusiasts I've talked to always say good things about these transmissions, but I have no first hand knowledge about them.

You can also pull a tranny from a 96 as well, not sure if they changed anything except body styling on the 2Gb's, but if they didnt then you can pull a tranny from a fwd TSi or GST from 95-99. Also Shep and TRE do great rebuilt tranny's.
