since venting the BOV makes the car run rich at shifts and can cause problems I found a way to make the BOV sound louder while still returning and using the stock MAF, just go to home depot or autozone and get a pipe with a slightly smaller diameter then the Rubber return pipe and replace as much of the rubber return pipe as possible, that way when the BOV opens the air will hit the metal pipe causing a louder vibration then it hitting a rubber hose which dampens the sound, if you can find a way to bend the pipe the air will hit the pipe more directly and be a little louder then if it was straight, I did this on my friends GSX and it sounds great, def. more noticeable, I am planning on doing this to my car after I get a new MAF, James.

:rocks: Congrats man. I hate to burst your bubble but it has been done before. If you want to make your spool up louder for cheap you can do relatively the same thing with your intake pipe and cut the stock rubber one as well. :thumb:

well that sucks, aww well, it sounds alot louder without any of the effects of venting, I didn't think to search, didn't know someone else thought of it:(

Anyone got a link on how to properly do the intake pipe thing to make the spooling up louder?

People forget, its the end of 06. This site is 4 years old and then some...tens of thousands have been tuning/messing with DSM's for a long time. Long before 02 even. The craze is just so big we had this and many other good sites made, as do alot of other makes and models.

Chances are, everything has been done 2 times over.

In anycase its a first for you and props for that.

Hey Morph, go to home depot and look n the plumbing section. I just got mine yesterday. Its called a wall tube and the sku of the one i got is 042805007105. They had a longer one but i got this one because I have a custom pipe and the inlet is forward a lil.

Was only 3.33. They also had a 1 1/2" one that had a nice smooth bend in it that I may try to make a matching j-pipe with. Has anyone tried this before????

just get rid of the stock intake pipe and get the 3" gear mandrel bent intake off ebay. it's only like $35 shipped and its full 3 inch and the return tube for the bov already has the wall in it so the air that gets recirculated hits that and resonates. plus the return tube for the bov is up closer to the maf and is placed so it's just a straight shot from the bov to it. well it is with the 1g bov my greddy rs return kinda curves but i got it more for the performance aspects rather then sound but it does for sure make the bov and spooling alot louder. here is a pic of it
