I did search! but... Fwd/awd transplant

I am NOT trying to convert my fwd to an awd...

What I want to do is drop my 1g 1990 FWD engine into a 1g 1990 AWD that I picked up for cheap... is it worth it... in the awd the tranny is fine its just the motor is shot... anything else I should look into?

Since they are both 90 models, all the wiring, shifter, and cables should be the same. You will need to use the AWD flywheel and clutch, bolt the FWD engine to the AWD trans, use the AWD axles, and everything should just be a normal swap. As far as I know the engines should be the same. Just swap the flywheels and clutch and drop it in. Oh, it's definitely worth it btw to go from FWD to AWD in my opinion. If I'm wrong someone please let me know, but I don't think I am. G/L

BTW, it is 5 speed right???

There shouldn't be any difference in the engine unless one is a 90 then it should just be the coil i think, just make sure you use the awd clutch and flywheel on the fwd engine. We put a built FWD tranny in my buddies AWD while he gets his awd built and all we had to do was switch the flywheel and clutch.
