I broke my front axel

so iw as cruisin along 13 mile in my 91 talon when my car jerked to the right all of a sudden i quickly jerked back and pulled into a parking lot just so happens it was a parking lot for a gastation with a garage attached to it called mikes auto garage, i had him hoistit up to see whats wrong well the damage is done broken axel need new ball joints too, he quoted me 381 for parts and 180 for labor plus tax is 584, so basically both front axels are geytting replaced driver and passengere and im getting new ball joints. does 584 sound like a fair price, and what are some things to check after i get the car back to make sure he did his job right?

Well I would check the parts prices against www.partznet.com to make sure your getting the best price on parts. the labor mount isn't too much.

yea they seem the same 142.00 for front pass axle, 142.00 for drivers side axle and ball joints plus 45.00 for each ball joint and 180 for labor. partznet is around that area. what should i check for when i get the car back to make sure it was done right. Also how hard would it be for me to do it by myself, and what special tools would i need.
