Ok, as some of you know, i turned my car off one day, and it has never started since. The car turns over, but won't fire, it is getting spark, and fuel, and the timing belt is properly aligned. I have two 1G 1.8L Talons, so I've swapped a lot of parts. I've done the following: swapped the spark wires, plugs, distributor, distributor cap, coil, injectors, throttle body, and o2 sensor. Like I said, I checked the timeing. I don't have an Ealge Talon pully on my timing belt, and I got confused about the timing mark, and tore the whole car apart today to adjust the timing, only to find it was allready aligned. I then (out of shear frustration) checked the oil, and found that it was about half oil, and half gas. So I changed the oil, still, the car would not start. So I guess I'm gonna swap the internal computer, and then if that fails the ECI. Sound good to you guys? I'm really goin nuts here. Any help is greatly welcomed!

Check the MPI fuse.. and also pull the ECU and look a the circuit board.
If you smell rotten eggs and/or see alot of acid etching around the capacitors, your ECU is likely bad.

Sounds like you need to do a compression test.
I run into a problem like this in my shop every once in a while.. ck compression and if its low then it won't run of coarse but the fuel in the oil is wiping down the cylinder walls and your losing compression there...change you oil first...then try pulling out your spark plugs and putting in a very small amount of trans fluid (about 2 tablespoons) in each cyl....then put in old plugs, lose your fuse for the fuel pump for a minute while cranking the motor over for about 1 minute or so. then change plugs and put fuel pump fuse back in and start it up while holding throttle open a little and usually it will start but will smoke a little then go away....

the gas is from cranking it over and over with it not starting that would also rule out the mpi fuse. so you should be good there.

like dsm90awd said check the ecu sounds like thats your prob.Check the MPI fuse too... as for everyone else ...LOL

sorry i forgot to mention, i also checked all the fuses, and checked the compression, and both were fine. i also allready chenged the oil.

Ok now I've changed the internal comp. Still no good. BTW all the parts that I've swapped I have put in the other running car, and it still runs fine. I guess I'll have to check the ECI now. Any special instructions/tips etc? Thanks guys.

crank sensors for these pos cars hurt the wallet

don't like the tone of this post, 95 our bigger pos's then ours, forgetting 7bolts and the wimpy t-25, all cars have flaws

ok guys. i'd rather not post the final fix, it's kinds embarassing, but i guess it might help someone so...dirty ground wire conections.

Don't think he was insulting to 1Gs

Though to correct his thoughts, 1Gs have Cam Angle Sensors, not Crank Angle Sensors :D

Cam or crank they are all mounted in the same spot and do the same thing. And they cause the same problems when they go bad.

Agreed that they cause problems when they go bad, but 2Gs have both, 1Gs only have the Cam Angle Sensor. When swapping a 6-bolt into a 2G you need to do some trickery to the 1G Cam Angle Sensor to make up for the lack of the Crank Sensor :talon:

thanks guys. btw, does anyone now exactly where all the ground wires are? i heard there's 5 of them, but i can only find three and they weren't the problem. thanks guys.
