Am i gonna get ripped off? (story/question)

Ok I was on my way home from breakfast and I noticed this family has all of this land and when i passed by i looked on the side of the barn when i was passing by and i see 2 1g dsm there. so I turned around and went there and asked how much there selling the eagle talon for he said there not mine go down to the green house so i ask him he tells me make an offer but i looked at the red car first and it was TURBO dsm i was like i finally found a 1g dsm turbo .

Now heres my question the guy offered 500 for it you think im getting ripped off? it not in perfect condition the hood is faded the tail light is half gone left fender is pushed and and theres a dent near the back left wheel and he said the engine in the car is fine just needs a new transmission and clutch and i was wondering if thats a good deal for a 1992 tsi? im looking for a project car anyways and the interior looks ok just lots of junk in it

It really depends on how much work your willing to put into the car. I paid $1200 for a total shitbox with a junk engine (think 16 bent valves and 2 bent balance shafts), junk tranny, crap interior, $200 Maaco paintjob etc. You really cannot get much cheaper than $500. I would pick it up because if it is too messed up to fix you could always part it out and easily make the $500 back. Also AWD dsms are getting kind of rare in my region. I would buy it but that is just my two cents. ---Jon

That all depends on how much time/money you want to invest in this car. To everyone else, this could be the greatest deal, Or the worst mistake (For certain people). You CAN make more then $500.00 off of the car parting it out, I can tell you that right now though.

Hell, for $500, I'll drive down there and buy it, then part it out! I could use some 1g parts, and I know there's a few other people around that could, too.

I say get it, and even if you can't get it running right away, you can at least keep it in a garage or something where it'll be protected until you CAN get it running. Until then, you could have a lot of fun getting it prepped for new parts. I'd love a 1g project car.

yeah im gonna have it towed since icant drive it with a messed up tranny and needs a new clutch too

EDIT: i mean have it on a flat bed tow truck
EDIT AGAIN: 1993eclipsegs and jsmdsm im gonna work on it till its a cherry (cherry means for me till its perfect brand new)

You would have alot of work ahead of you because once you take the tranny out, You're going to start ripping into everything.. Either way, If you didn't want it anymore you'd be able to sell two parts off it and make your money back most likly.

thanks guys well i made 100 dollars yesterday dont worry that talon isnt going anywhere ive seen it back there for a while just never realized it was a talon
