Hyundai front cover on 6-bolt for 2g Crank Angle Sensor

This is an option for 1G engines in 2G cars; it allows the engine to keep the same electronics found in the 2G without having to do any extraneous wiring. More plainly, it is for the crank sensor found on a 2G engine, not for a cam sensor which is what you are undoubtedly having trouble with on a 1G engine.

I'm not positive as to exactly what my setup when finished but by following the "1g head in a 2g" article from RRE (RRE's Eclipse 2g Turbo to 1g Head Swap Tips) and this Hyundai option, I can run a 1g in RWD while eliminating the standard 1g CAS and still have both a crank and cam trigger; inexpensively.

If you can modify the 1G head to bolt on a 95-96 cam sensor (or, alternatively, use a 2G head), correctly wiring and using it and the Hyundai front cover with a 2G style crank sensor (or, alternatively, this aftermarket sensor from Kiggly which doesn't require the Hyundai front case at all: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/396152-kiggly-6-bolt-crank-trigger-sensor.html) will give you the most room by the firewall on your setup. Honestly, I wasn't aware anyone modified 1G heads for those sensors -- it doesn't seem like and easy thing to do.

can anyone confirm what year model the oil pump will fit from? none of the links to pictures of the pump work. also I've read every thread I've read either talks about the g4cs, g4cp, 95-98 elantra, 95-98 sonata. But there are no definite answers or pictures.

also has anyone confirmed if the bottom of the case is flat or curved?

I found out that you need the hyundai oil pan to fit the front cover. and you need to modify the oil pan to clear for a gsx. screw that. I'm sticking with the 1g cas. just gonna need to borrow a timing light

Figured i would ad this in here since i have come across one. And from studying it all you need is the front case and a hyundai (matching) oil pan. The front cases are identical other than the hump on the bottom, which does not include any oil passages or sealing surfaces.

this is a 1g front case to compare to.

So it seems all you need is the hyundai front case, oil pan, and to tap the pan for a turbo drain!

To do what?

It appears to me that the lower two oil filter housing bolt holes are not in the same spots as a DSM 6-bolt, making it not a direct swap for that application. If you could measure and post up the approximate center-to-center distance of those two holes for the Hyundai cover, that would be useful information.

For comparison, those two bolts on a 6-bolt are roughly 1.875 inches apart whereas on a 7-bolt they are closer to 1.25 inches apart.

Right and you have to do that anyways with just using a 2g oil pump on a 6 bolt anyways so why not just use a 2g oil pump? Its far cheaper since you probably already have one lying around.

I just did the rre og way . It only ran around 50 bucks after it was said and done. I would way rather do it that way and get teh better 2g sensor regardless of whether or not I had ecmlink.

Seriously, if you are just trying to get rid of the misfire, the hyundai pump+oilpan is as expensive as ecmlink used, thus, kinda lame. It makes no sense to use it.
