Ok does the crank angle sensor on 2gens work somewhat by counting how many times the thin metal crank wheel spins past the magnetic counter?????? The reason y i am asking is becuase my car wont start, it just cranks over and over. The problem is i am getting NO spark watsoever. I replaced the coils/power transistor and it still just cranks over and over. Also i checked my ECU and nothing was wrong nor did it smell like fish. So the only other thing the factory manual says for this exact problem is the crank angle sensor. I unbolted mine and it look like some of the plastic had barely cracked open but the magnet side was still fine... So my question is does the sensor have to count how many times the metal hits it or should the metal just pass through it allowing the magnet part to "COUNT" it?????? ill show you a picture of what im talking about.

No the metal should not contact it, if it does you have some crankwalk issues.

I agree. I knew someone years back that had the same problem (car would turn over, but not start). Turns out the CAS was dead because of crankwalk.......

well the thin metal piece is bent outward at say 20 degrees making it touch the plastic part, it is not dead flush with the crank pulley. i believe it got bent due to my balance shaft belt snapping and winding all over the crank pulley. it did not take out my timing belt luckily. This is what i mean. If it WAS flush it would not hit anything it would just go threw the plastic part and magnet part with out hitting any of them
