Hello, I run the local dirt track with a bone stock 4g63 n/a. a source told me the dohc 1.6 liter head off a 95 elantra bolts right on the 4g63 block and in return produces more hp than the stock 2.0 head. just looking for more info on whether or not this is true. keep in mind we run a 3/8 mile track as fast as we can in second gear

The 1.6 head has a smaller combustion chamber, so your compression will be bumped up slightly. Not a heck of a lot, but some. The intake ports are small, like a 2G head. The 1.8 head has intake ports exactly the same as a 1G, and the smaller combustion chamber of the 1.6, so it would be the one to get, although again...it's not a huge bump in compression. Maybe 1/4 to 1/2 a point.

I was told by just putting 1.6 head on I could gain 30hp...

No, definitely not. The 1.6 head has smaller intake ports, so you will be flowing less air, although it will be of higher velocity, like the 2G heads. The 1.8 head is essentially the same as the one on your car now, with .5 more compression.

30hp? Maybe 3hp, but you will gain low end torque...which doesn't sound like what you want.
