I just found a hybrid T3/T4 turbo for 850.00. I was woundering if anybody knows the pros and cons of the hybrid. If you know anything about it please let me know befor I buy it. :talon:

A "Hybrid" is not a specific turbo, it just means that it's shares components from two (or more) turbo models. A T3/T4 "Hybrid" means that the CHRA (center section) and turbine section are from a Garrett-based T3 turbo whereas the compressor housing/wheel comes from the larger T4 line of Garrett-based turbos.

Combining the two you get a quick spooling turbo with the capability to flow a ton of air.

Garrett / Turbonetics sells select "Hybrids" direct from them, whereas there are many other variations using different wheels/housing combinations and offering bolt-on compatibility from other turbo shops.

Without specifics on make of turbo, wheel trim/size housing, Mitsu/Garrett inlet exhaust housing and condition of turbo (if used/rebuilt), I cannot comment on its pros/cons :dsm:

If it's a Mitsubishi-flanged turbine housing search for "SCM-61" if the Garrett T3 Flanged turbine housing search for "SC-61".

The SC will require you to purchase a new manifold and O2 housing, wheras the SCM (M= Mitsubishi Flanged) bolts up to your existing Mitsubishi manifold/O2.

Is it internally gated? If not will have to purchase an external wastegate.

In any case this is a stout turbo that's proven to make great power on pump gas (obviously with the right supporting mods).

It's also readily available new from venders on this site (Dejon Powerhouse even has this puppy on sale this month for alot less than you were going to pay ;) ) :dsm:

I got a tubular t3/t4 manifold w/ hks external wastegate flange for sale $200 ;) , I wanted to go t3/t4 60 Trim but cant afford the setup :-(
