I was wondering if anyone has ever done this or if it is even possible to do. Would the wastegate have to be modded, how would the compresor/exhaust wheels hook up. If so, i would like to hear what you guys think. Would it be worth it?

What are you suggesting?
They use the same housing, so putting the 16g internals in a 14b housing would still make a 16g, I would assume.

Err...sure...it's possible....the 16g wheel is slightly larger though.

The only difference between a 14b and a 16g is the compressor wheel. The turbine wheel is TD05H....

Most 16gs also have a 7cm^2 turbine housing and most 14bs have 6cm^2 housings, so you'd get a 16g with quicker spool but less topend.

no, what I'm saying is, use a 14b exhaust housing and 16g compressor housing

Yes. as a matter of fact, ive been doing that myself. Its a 16g with a 6cm^2 turbine housing.

Works fine.

You need a 16G Compressor Housing, Center Plate, and Wheel (of course)...NOT JUST A WHEEL (See rule #3). It would not hurt to buy a rebuild kit either. And BTW the turbo will be out of balance when you put the new wheel on, no matter what, so go get it balanced before your thrust bearing, then journals die premateurly.

Did you build your hybrid yourself?

Yep! its my "in garage special" :p :thumb:

Very easy, Theres a clamp ring holding the turbing housing to the compressor housing. Just unbolt that, and yank the turbine housing off, and switch. Voila! your own customized 16g ;)
