hey guys! I'm about to buy an hx40 that is rebuilt with 0 miles on it :D I was curious if i needed a divided mani or if the one i have will work? i believe it is T4 style but i will post pics when i get off to make sure. check my profile if curious of mods. i know i will need to fab a downpipe, no biggie, but the manifold is what is peaking my interest. any comments helpful will be appreciated :thumb:

If its a divided t4 then your going to need a divided t4 manifold. Tell the seller to keep that heavy behind thing and save on shipping LOL, with the money for the extra wastegate you going to need buy the bolt on or t3 housing from bep. Read up on the holset treads, youll find all the help you need.

can someone tell me whether or not this is a bep hotside? i mic'd all the specs out and sent it to gpopshop.com and they told me it was a bep turbo.

Definitely a Bullseye turbine housing- the internal flapper is either welded shut or it's missing some parts to move the flapper.

You probably won't want to run this turbo internally-gated...#1 there is no actuator provision on HX40 covers, and #2 you'll never get proper boost control with a 70 lb/min turbo through an internal gate.

Do you or do you not need a divided manifold to run with the stock holset divided housing? this person is saying yes and the other no so i'm really rather confused. i'm going to get it either way but just wan't to save myself some trouble if i can use holset housing on my t3/t4 style mani and just fab a 3" downpipe.

Technically you do not need a divided manifold but you will benefit much more with a divided manifold. IIRC you can cause some hindrance using a divided housing with an open manifold.

about 7-7.5k rpms for now. in a month or so i'll be upgrading springs and retainers and following that will be cams. i am wanting to build a solid motor bc i am looking to do a gsx swap sometime next year and the hx40 is sick for a good 550=600hp setup :)

What RPMs can you expect to see boost with an HX40 on a mildly modded dsm?

sorry man i read the question wrong ha LOL from what i've read and some vids i've studied it seems to start building boost anywhere from 3.7k to 4k rpms and sees full boost about .4-.8k rpms later
