Alright guys, so finally have everything ready to go for this start up. to give you a feeler this is what were working with.

Stock 7 bolt from oil pan to valve cover. New timing components 0 miles on them
0 miles on new head studs and felpro hg.
STM t3 manifold with v band tial 38mm wastegate
Hx40 6 blade
ETS fmic with short route 1g bov
AEM wideband, boost, and oil pressure.
Aeromotive FPR
DSMlink v3 lite on SD setup
255 walbro fuel pump

Now im no tuner by any means and when it comes to this i really sit back and scratch my head. After reading all these posts about what fuel pumps max out at x amount of air pressure and volts etc etc. This is a very stock build for this year just looking to bring it to work and cruise around here and there nothing crazy. My question is with my 255 fuel pump what injectors would i be running for about 12-15 psi on pump 93 oct. I have a 2.0 forged 6 bolt with 6 bolt race head tons of parts that im ganna be putting in next year ( 450 lph fuel pump, -8an lines pump to rail etc. ) What would be your recomenndation that would give me a good AFR and not max out the duty cycle on the injectors. Again this isnt my drag setup for this year atleast only my weekend warrior/ when i wanna go cruise etc. Any inputs on this or ideas that i could benefit from?

On my hx40 I diddnt see 100%idc values till 27 psi with my 1000's. I ran them up to 30 psi before I upgraded. Shouldn't need much but why not get the biggest possible? I've now got 2150's and they're rediculously easy to tune and have a significantly more linear scale at low pulsewidths than any injector I ever used other than stock.

@jakelandry were you using a walbro 255 with your 1000's? Next year is when I get the 2150's with my 450 pump and lines for sure. just more worried about this year

Yes. I diddnt run out of pump till I started reving out past 7k at 32 psi. I was on a cyclone manifold with an fp manifold and hks272's that were both advanced 3* so a 255 could easily be maxed at way less boost. Should still be fine with your current goals however.

I was making consistent 11 second passes at 126 with that setup.

wow @jakelandry thats insane i think 1000s would be the way to go for my goal . Thats very impressive i think itll be fine for just this summer. Off topic question whats your drain and feed specs for the holset? nobody is giving me an exact answer everybody is different just want another .02 if you wouldnt mind

the graph on this page is a nice quick reference chart:

if you know the airflow in lbs/min your hx40 can put out, multiply that by 10 for a general hp number. for instance, my 8-blade hx35 can flow a max of 51lb/min x 10 = 510 hp. its not exact, but its close enough to do some estimating for future part purchases like injectors. (i have fic 1100 hi-z in my setup for 93 oct)

-4 feed and -10 return. Possibly run a restrictor if your oil pressure gets higher than 70 psi at red line. On Q16, I was in the 90% IDC at 38psi on my HX40 in 1000cc injectors. I might have cheated a little bit though and bumped my base pressure up a little, I can't remember. I had two Walbro 255s, though.

I can honestly say I've probably done more work in the holset oiling area than many many members here.

I have destroyed NUMEROUS hx40's from oiling issues. I used to get justin to rebuild them because he helped me anytime I had any issues and was always nice to work with, but it got incredibly cost inefficient after I was blowing them up every few thousand miles.

I currently have a custom made return. I cut a piece of rectangular metal plate out and welded a 3/4 i.d. Nipple to it at a 30 degree angle facing the oil pan. I did the same to the pan where I can just use 3/4 i.d. Heater hose or something equivilent. I went this route because 12an is slightly smaller than the 19mm I.d. They come with from the factory.

For feed these turbos get a 6an on cummins applications. All the oiling specifications found for holsets are written around that fact. We can get away with a 4an feed because our cars have significantly higher oil pressures under the load conditions. People always make the argument of diesel oil pressures being incomparable to a gas engine but we also aren't seeing 20 psi of boost pressure at 2k like a diesel so a lower oil pressure is acceptable.

You can blast literally 2000 psi of oil pressure into that turbo as long as you an excavate it efficiently enough to not blow past your seals. The reason they state the values they do in the spec sheet is because of the diesel oiling system. It can only efficiently move the quantity of oil produced at the max specified pressure from a -6 feed.

I originally had a stm -4 feed and destroyed 3 turbos on it with a ported ofh at maxes at 85 psi. For the longest time it made no sense because I knew my oil pressure was significantly higher than the accepted pressures and I wasn't burning any of it. After further inspection I found that the line only had a .115 orfice. A -4 is a .22 orfice. I always took their word for it being a -4 and a -4 worked so well for everyone else I ever read about. Once I discovered that I swapped to a -6 line. After that my setup was fine but I have since gone back to my -4ish setup due to fear of taking too much oil from my rotating assembly and head at high rpm's though I have no evidence to back it actually happening. I currently have a -6 to -4 adapter after my -6 line and I drilled the -4 out to a .22 orfice where I know it's a true -4. This turbo has since ran just fine but I will tear it down at the end of the season and inspect it again. The plan is to drill the -4 adapter out till I get the optimum orfice.

I wish I could further elaborate but I am currently on my phone and busy. I apologize.

no problem youve been a huge help so far. So basically -4 an feed ( legit -4 an so a .22 orfice ) and a 3/4 drain? is that what I'm hearing? if you want I can message you my number if its easier and we can just talk im at work as well :banghead: @jakelandry

Feel free to message me but that is what I recomend. Note that I've never used a non ported ofh with a .22 orfice though.

All of my results are spot on with Jake's. I hit around 30psi when I maxed my 1050s on my hx40 combo. As for oiling, I have a -4 feed with a restrictor drilled out to .100" and a -12 drain line. Welded a -12 fitting to my oil pan and another to a piece of 3/8" steel that I used to make a flange at the turbo. After a bit of finessing with a file to the fittings, everything fits well and drains great. The turbo is as good as new after a few thousand miles and I've never questioned it.

-4an , -10 Drain Ported OFH Running the Hx40 7 Blade 4 years now.. 1200 PTE Injectors Maxed out at 26 Psi with Walbro 450 but I think its because of the way tuned dialed them in.. Told me also to get 2150cc
