Yes there is an 8 blade but the 8 blade is the bottom of the barrel of the HX40s. The Super/Pros are the 6 and 7 blade versions with the 7 blade billet being the best of the best as far as the HX40s are concerened. Badass turbos for sure! Me and Justin are going to forcefeed one to Lucas at English racing and see what he can do with it.. LOL

It's true, the 8 blade is the bottom of the barrel hx40. They still have potential to make damn good power. This guy, 1fast2g went 139mph in the 1/4 with an 8 blade hx40 in a BEP bolt on housing. I know it's an 8 blade because I actually own this turbo now.

The 8-blade HX40 has better low-boost efficiency than the 6-blade and 7-blade.

If you have a stroker and you're looking at the HX40 over the HX35 because of the 40's larger turbine (less backpressure) but don't necessarily want to run 35psi to make power, the 8-blade HX40 is for you.
 
Just was doing a little looking around for some dyno numbers to compare. I really like this HX40, first one I've tuned on a built motor. On a Mustang Dyno it made 585 hp and 505 Tq at 37 psi. Its close to 661/570 if you want to throw 13% at the MD number to compare to Dynojet. Tried to turn up the boost but it would lose it and only hold 37 to redline with no noticeable gains. This was on 93 pump gas and Meth. Would like to give this turbo a whack at e85 soon. Also I do not know if this was a 7 or 8 blade, never asked.

those are some good numbers! e85 will make a big difference for sure. Its a great turbo Im hoping to make a few adjustments to my setup to squeeze out a little more power. Since this dyno I've run 9.75@146. Its auto now these number were with a 5 speed.
 
I was impressed with this turbo in the .55 ar housing. At 33psi on e85 it took my 2g full weight with 19" wheels down the 1/4 in 11.5. This winter its getting the head ported and slapping on the t3 .70 ar housing and my ERL manifold. Let's see what 40psi does.
