Hey guy, I know this has been covered in a few threads but I didn't get the exact answer I was looking for. I currently have a stock 7 bolt with 134k miles on it, 175 psi compression across the board. It ran 329 AWHP on a mustang dyno with a 16g @ 22psi on 94 octane with meth injection. For next year I was thinking about the possibility of going with a bigger turbo. The Hx35 seems like the best bang for buck with the BEP housing as I would only need the turbo, o2 housing with a wastegate and oil feed lines/drains.

How many of you guys have ran one on a stock 7 bolt? I would be looking for mid 400's on the mustang dyno. Would it be better to just stick with the 16g for the sake of the motor and tranny? The car is my daily.

Its comes down to you everyones engine will be different even with a holset the 7 block can hold more power than we know ask corey bowers from stm, more power chances things will break you may not find a exact answer but one maybe close or even the opinons of those who will chime in, just get the mods for your setup.

Be sure to check the manifold for clearance issues in the manifold/holset thread. I ran 26psi without meth and soon after 32psi, 94 octane, 75/25 meth/water with my hx35 all summer. Link estimated 500hp and I did pulls up to 8000rpm. Stock bottom end, no idea what condition the bottom was in, kiggly beehive springs and GSC S2 cams.
Went with the punishment racing recerculated o2 housing.

The only problem I had after driving it hard all summer was the input shaft bearing started failing. But that's after about 15 launches, many 3rd gear pulls w/brake boosting and running (didn't know better) GM syncroshift at the time. I did change my oil once every month though and only used AMS dominator oil.

I would turn the power down during the winter though, as you shouldn't be running as thick an oil then.

Edit: The FP manifold will work great with it. But please get rid of the XTD clutch. I doubt it will last long with the extra hp.

Am curious how many miles is on your bottom end running on that kind of power level???

Im on a stock 7 bolt with balance shafts. Unknown miles since I bought the engine about 5 years ago from Japan as a replacement. So, If I had to "guesstimate" 110k?

Stock bottom end w/ balance shafts
BC springs and 272s
1000cc and wally 255
Redjack t/s manifold and 7 blade Hx35. 29 psi.
Revving to 7500.

I was seeing 119 mph traps this past season with being locked out of second every pass. Definitely feel the car had at least 125 mph traps in it. I daily drive this car as well. And religiously do pulls. Almost every time I drive it. Im going to push this car until I spit a rod out of the block. Which I just hope it'll wait until the end of the season.

Im looking to grab a hx 35 for my long term goals im piecing the parts plan on running it on my stock bottom end.

Ive done this a lot. I have ran bep .55 on an hx35 8 blade, also the 12cm t3 hx 35 on a stock bottom end and hy35 t3. You can get away with it but its better to make small adjustments in boost and tuning being on stock parts. You can get away with more knock on forged parts but having any knock at 450 hp is going to be hell on a piston ring land. I liked the hx35 in a bolt on housing for a daily driver on lower compression ratio engines. Going to t3 wasnt as fun because you give up a lot of mid range power and power below 4k. If your just looking to make the most pump gas power you can regardless of spool time then t3 is the way to go.

Unrelated, but do you have a log to share? I'm very interested in how the t/s HX35 spools up. Like when you see positive pressure, how does it feel spool wise compared to something like a 16G? Thanks for any/all info.

Yes that's why im putting mine together bit by bit and skipping the bep housing, got a spare block for my forged set up if and when this one blows up, over 400 its calling it close, my friend runs hx35 on his stock 6 bolt, around 409 to be exact.

The only log I have is of one of my runs in the middle of the season last year at a local track. Here http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/turbo-system-tech/313476-holset-turbos-results-only-complete-installed-systems-5.html#post153332259 It is nothing like a 16g to be honest. Although I think this is an amazing street turbo its still nothing like a 16g.

Also iugrad92turbo Mr Peepers was making well over 500 wheel on a stock 6 bolt for 3+ years as a DD. Hes a pretty good buddy of mine so I know this car pretty well. There is a lot more to be had out of your buddys engine.

I have the twin scroll setup as well on 27psi and a 7 blade hx35. Ran 11.6@123 (roughly 450awhp). Stock 7 bolt block (145kmiles) with no balance shafts. I'm also on e85 which is better for motors

Yes im sure it does, but he hasn't pushed it that hard yet he just got It installed, he will have more pulls at sim in the future probably this summer.

So its seem that 450 whp has been done a few time I think I'm more worried about the tranny at this point. @renovatdkitchen I believe XTD stage 4 is rated up to mid 450 ft/lb of torque, so getting close to the limit but I have read people running even more power through them with no problems.

I'm iugrads buddy LOL, making 406whp right now. I'm still only on a 255 pump with e85 (so don't want to push it). This summer I'm thinking of doing 2g piston/1g rod with all arp hardware and possibly switching to a t3 setup if money allows it. I would like to get closer to 500whp.

Yes LOL gonna fix my leak then head to the dyno for tuning. just to get a idea of where im at on my setup but not much considering I need a transmission upgrade. Ill be there for that 500 hp try.
