alright soon ill be getting this job and when i do im gunna take out my engine and start on a long build. and i want to do this build right the first time. my hp goals im not to sure yet i was thinking 600-700 awhp so i was thinking hx35 or 40 now my problem is i can find hx35's around but i cant seem to find a 40. so what do you think? or should i go with some other turbo?

600-700 awhp ROFL. First, you should do some research before deciding which turbo you are going to run and then go from there. It's not that easy to make 600awhp let alone 700awhp. Shit, it's not that easy to make 500awhp. With the amount of money I've spent thus far I'll be lucky to hit 500awhp.

But, if I had to choose I'd go with the HX40. That turbo is probably more than you will ever need and you can piece one together for about 600 bucks with a BEP housing.

I'm not trying to be a dick I'm just trying to talk reality for a second. Take a look at slippis project log and witness how much money he has into his build and how much time, effort, research, MONEY and labor he has done before you consider doing what you're considering doing.

i have done alot of research, and i said i dont know what my plan is on making yet so thats why i put that. Ive looked more into the internal engine parts ill be needing so now i was looking into the turbo for my set-up. and im aware of the money and time needed to be put in this.

If you looking for more then the 500's defiantly go with the 40, but picking your housing will be tricky. You have to decide if you want it to be a straight up top end monster or more of a street/strip car. some of the bigger housings have some crazy lag and some have an acceptable, then you have the smaller ones that spool it very quickly.

If your looking for 700whp from the bolt on housing you better be ready to spend a lot and most likely never make it. You will need to go with the .70 A/R or stock holset housing. Even then your pushing the turbo close to its max.

yeah, I chose to go with the Hx-40 over the Hx-35. It took some thought and I chose the FP race manifold w/ Dsm flanged (small bep housing) and External 02 wastegate setup.

I plan to at least hit 450-500hp on a rebuilt 6-bolt/2g piston combo, with a 2G head....but I also want the hx-40 in a year when my strokers done so I can up it to 550+......Being FWD with street drags, and revving out to 8K, I think the spool time of the hx-40 is perfect, and why the hell would I buy a hx-35 to run 450hp, just to sell it a couple months later and buy a hx-40. That would mean Id have to buy TWO Bep housings, or one T3 manifold. Neither I can afford..Im trying to stay somewhat on a budget.

Realisticly you could hit 500+hp with the hx-35, stock housing and a t3 manifold..once again, I already have the FP mani. so Id just keep spending more and more money.

Hx-40 is not going to get you to 600-700hp with any job at your age. Think of all the other supporting mods you'll need!

and if your really serious about this, you better find $10,000 asap.

Also dont forget the Holset thread. Read up and you'll see what people are doing and power levels they are making. Also dont forget the kinds of Hx-35's/40's

the 7-blade Hx-35, flows 60lb/min, where as the 8-blade hx-40, flows 60lb/min....

If I were you, Id consider a 7-blade hx-35, or a 6-7 blade hx-40 (hard to find).

Not going into too much detail but you'll ned to run e85, and probably a smim. Good luck I guess

Am I really going to be the one to have to say it???

You aren't ready for 600-700whp. You probably aren't ready for even a 500whp build.

From your last "invisible build" thread, when 500-600whp was your goal.
just a question, would all the mods with a e316g get me my goal cause im not gunna beat on this car to much. Hell ive bever got my car past 4.5k rpm's right now i feel bad doing it =p

Set a more reasonable goal first. Small mistakes with a 600hp car can really put a hole in your wallet. There's a lot more to a 600whp build than just the engine and transmission.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather have a running 400hp car than a 700hp car that always seems to have problems.

hx-40 is your best bet prob not 700hp though but also start with bolt ons first i started with the internal stuff first and 8 months later im just now getting it almost done. you will change your mind to much, changed my turbo setup 4 times and my internal setup 3 times, so def start with bolt on stuff so u can still drive it for a bit longer

why the big goals 500hp isnt any joke by its self makes for a very quick car and with that much power your going to need to upgrade tranny for sure and thats not cheap my buddy droped over $3,000 on his shep stage 4 alone

Actually on the contrary, Ive seen 500hp awd's run fine with just an act 2600/6-puck combo...Its when you start launching that shit goes wrong. But yes, it is always nice to have a built Drivetrain, including axles.
