It would seem after I did my timing belt and put my motor back in that I have aquired a well flowing leak, looks like its coming from the o-ring on the water pump. I found a few threads on this but I'm more specifically looking on how to reapir this without taking off the water pump. How can I get to that hard line that runs in front of the motor and behind the turbo. Some people said to take the turbo off and I was wondering if anyone knew of another way or if that was the only way. After I get that pipe off what should I do to stop the leak, rtv?

there is an O ring that seals the water pipe in it costs like $2 from mitsu just buy a new one. It may be possible if you removed your intake, j pipe and possibly the turbo water inlet line. And don't forget the bolt on the block. then you would just yank it hard to the left and if your lucky you can squezze your hand in there and just slip on a new O ring. Don't forget the vaseline it'll help to put it back in and not f up your new seal.

Its a new gasket I just want to take the hard water line off and see if the o-ring is binding.

What gasket, water pump? AS for taking the hard pipe off, it's pretty simple, but frustrating getting to the one bolt behind the turbo. Undo the bolt behind the turbo, take the 14mm bolt that holds it against the tranny and engine on the back under the CAS and then just wiggle and twist the best you can and it will come out. Getting the O-rings on and off is a little frustrating too, but nothing horrible. I did mine in about 20 minutes, in the rain. I got the seal (o-ring) at o'reilly's they gave me 2 for 2 dollars. They just gave me the box and it had 2 in it :D

I was refering to the O-ring. So its only two bolts or just 2 harder bolts. I was also going to just rtv the o-ring to hell and let it sit for about 24 hours.

Seriously buy the o-ring.It's 2 bucks and you won't believe how bad the old one will be when you pull it out. Mine was dry rotted, cracked, flat on the edge that seals and hardened up to where it broke when i tried to pull it off the pipe. If you silicone/rtv it, i can bet you will be back under the hood the next if not the same day trying to scrape that ish off so you can get the new O-ring on.

No the O-ring, water pump, and timing belt were just assembled, The O-ring is brand new. I'm following your instructions turboglenn but how in gods green earth did you remove the bolt behind the turbo water line.

Gearwrench or a line wrench and patience. And your Oring probably has a chunk of dirt or grease on it and it lets water seep out. I've never hand one leak that was new and clean and at the high pressure it gets at 190* i doub't rtv would fix it.

If its a new o-ring and its leaking it may have broke or came out of the groove when you put the pump on, put on a new o-ring put some coolant on it it to lube it and kind of twist the pipe while your putting it in so the o-ring doesn't come off.

I used a gearwrench on mine too! Mine might have been easier because i have a turbonetics manifold with a ts/to4e mounted on it. I know factory is a little more jammed up in there, but i think you can stil get at it if your patient, I think i cracked it loose with a small 1/4'' SK ratchet i had lost it at a art show that a old honda 50 i restored was in :(

Ok so I had to use a 12mm swivel socket to get the bolt from behind the turbo. Now I know what O-ring your talking about, actually both O-rings. I thought the one that goes in the water pump was the only one but I just found the O-ring that is at the end of the actual water pump feed line. When I grabbed the O-ring it came right off and had all kinds of grime from when I was cleaning around it during my timing belt change. After I put the new one on should I rtv one or both because I want to make sure I dont have to do this again, this is a pain in my side.

If you are using new o-rings and the pipe is clean and not bent / damaged you should not use or need rtv.

Thanks guys It's fixed with no leaks and now im rushing before the rain to get the car done.

Ok so I was wrong It's still leaking, here's whats up. I only had a small amount of fluid to put in earlier and now after 4 hours of trying to get the bolt behind the turbo on It was put together. I went and bought another gallon of antifreeze and put it all in and not a second after tilting the gallon up it came streaming out again same spot. I cleaned the area, new o ring and tightened all bolts. I went to O-reilys and they didnt have a gasket that was as wide as the original but I didnt figure it was the width that mattered, just the thickness (which was the same). I was thinking of putting two of the O-0rings on there but I really dont think that It's going to solve this and it is an all day project getting the pipe on and off. What is going on here why is this not seating!?

I've been working on it for nearly 5 hours and its the last thing that hopefully needs to happen to get this car started after almost 4 months ( time and money were not on my side ). I would love a miracle fix but maybe some ideas would help as it seems like I'm the only one who really has had a problem with this.

Are you sure you pushed the water pipe completely into the water pump? You will be able to tell if it's all the way in or not.
