Storm Lake,
I recently remove my stock turbo spoiler and I found out there was three holes left on my car. How can I fix this problem, can I do it myself or I need to take it to the body shop for them to shave the holes out. I would rather do it myself to save money but if there isn't another way then I will settle with the body shop.
Thanks guys! :dsm: :thumb: :dsm:

y0 i have my handles shaved.. and i dont have power anything.. you will be fine... get the kit from autoloc.. its the same kit i got.. stick with your 35lbs and youll be fine... enjoy.. and ppl get a kick out of the fact you just hit a button and your doors open.. girls really like it ;]~

I just got automatic lambo doors with shaved handles and everythign so my next problem is to see how i canget my windows relocated

you dont really need the whole kit form autoloc. all you need its the solenoids and 2 relays.......if you have a alarm with auxilary outputs, you can use your current alarm to open the doors. thats how i have mine hooked up, and they work great, that will also save you alil money and it saves you from haveing 2 remotes.
i was using the autoloc remote and reciver, and i think its junk compared to the way i have it now(using the alarm instead of the autoloc rmote and reciver) i also have another thing hooked up to my doors incase i shut my keys in the car. instead of tryin to hide that button that comes with the kit, that anyone can use to get in. I have a tap-loc system..and all i have to do is tap on the windsheild the pattern that i have programed and the door pops. and what cool is you can change the code when ever you want, so incase someone finds out your code you can change it within in a minute tops!

i got mine from autoloc(i paid $100) but you can get it from taplock.com and get it for $49
you guys should check it out its alot better than that button

i am not even gonna use the button...to easy for them people "hum no door handles wonder where the button is, oh looka here"...come on...stupid...worse case scenario ill crawl through the hatch back...captins log-day 12---still trying to figure this alarm out...guess i will have to call that help

same thinkin here,, no "button" for me, i'll crawl through the hatch if i need to

i still havent gotten my kit.. will post updates.......

the funniest part is i really want to do this because my stupid door handle broke and its 80$ just for the replacement handle. so why buy a new handle when i can have remote doors LOL...right? stupid idea to make the damn handles plastic and thats all i have to say...

why would you have to use the button, like i said i dont have a button mounted anywhere on my car, all i do is tap a code on the windsheild and the door pops. anda as far as you sayin "still tryin to figure out the alarm" why would you have to figure it out, all you do is have the signal wire form the auxilary on the alarm run to the relay and when you push the auxilary button on your remaote to your alarm, the door will pop. obviously if you dont know how to hook up a alarm, have your local stereo shop do it or some who knows what they are doin......it aint that difficult.
i mean if you have alarm, you might as well use the auxilary outputs on it for somethin, thats what they are for. it would be kinda stupid to have a remote for your alarm, use it to turn your alarm off and on, and then be climbing thruough the back hatch.

FINALLY!!!!.....got the alarm and the solinoids hooked up...works good...did have a few problums at first with the solinoids not popping the doors open...but this was caused from them not being well grounded...the alarm is way to sensative too...ohh well...only thing i am disappointed with is that when you disarm the alarm the driver door pops, and when you cut the car off the drivers door pops then too...but other than that...looks cool

i think somehow you got something hooked up wrong. because if it is hooked up right the door wont have anything to do with arming or disarming the car or shut the car off. the doors should only open off of 2 different auxilary buttons( sometimes 1 auxilary button works one and then you have to push the auxilary and another button to work the other function. ifyou have a manual for your alarm read on the aux. funtions, or if you dont get online. you can find it there for sure.

See like mine, i have a button the arms the car, one that disarms the car, a aux that pops the drivers door, and when you push the aux/panic button together at the same time the passenger door pops.

you have the main idea, i just think you have something hooked up to the wrong wire.

here's what ur gonna need to do to shave the handles on ur car.

1. take the factory door handles out. ull need the linkage

2. weld in a piece of sheetmetal, or glass the hole up with fiberglass mat. if glassing it u will need to make some type of a filler to go in the hole first to support the glass.

3. ur gonna need to buy 2 door lock actuators, or door popper solenoids. spal actuators work better. also u will need an aftermarket keyless entry.

4. wire the keyless up, instead of wiring to the door locks u are goin to wire to the actuators, same thing. follow keyless directions. most keyless remotes have 4 buttons, i usually put lock to actuator in driver door, unlock to actuator in pass. door. the other 2 buttons are acc. buttons. u could wire one to remote open ur hatch. another actuator would be needed for that also.

5. mount the actuators somewhere on the inner frame of the door. a custom bracket may have to be made. the actuator has to be in a position to connect to the factory linkage that went to the door handle. linkage that opens door will need to be pulled by actuator, not pushed. forget about the door lock linkage since u will no longer need door locks, u can take that out of the door to free up space. ur prolly gonna have to do a little tweaking on the linkage to get it exactly right, just bend the linkage around however u need.

6. u should be done inside the door now so u just need to finish the outside of the doors. some grinding and bondo action will be required on this. if ur not to good at body work take it to a body shop. once the handles are smoothed out and blended it can be painted and cleared.

7. remember that once the handles are shaved there is no other way to get in ur car if the keyless remote goes dead. leaving the key hole for the hatch would be a good idea, just leave a spare key for the car in your wallet all the time. hope this helps somewhat and have fun with it.

isnt there any cheaper kits???

yes, you should be able to get a kit w/ 2 solenoids for around or under $100

i think my kit was $87 + S&H, and that was about 4-5 yrs ago, and haven't had any problems with it. i think i got it from Summit Racing if i'm not mistaken

a 'good' shop will weld in a piece of metal & smooth it out. (fiberglass will work, but fiberglass & metal expand/contract at different rates, so watch out) you may not want to take this project to just any shop. find one that specializes in custom work

Does anyone here have shaved door handles? I am looking into doing it, so I will never have to deal with the bad DSM door handle and they look hella cool(from what I have seen). What should I know about them? If I installed it how much do you think it would cost me to get my doors welded and painted? Anyone got pics?

Nobody really knows this. Go to a shop so you can get a quote.

Make sure you have a switch or pull cord hidden in case the battery dies. :thumb:

except for the people who have done it  . I remember a few guys who have but I cant remember their names, did you search?

I have looked for some other threads but nothing like pics of them or anything that I am really looking for.
