Storm Lake,
I recently remove my stock turbo spoiler and I found out there was three holes left on my car. How can I fix this problem, can I do it myself or I need to take it to the body shop for them to shave the holes out. I would rather do it myself to save money but if there isn't another way then I will settle with the body shop.
Thanks guys! :dsm: :thumb: :dsm:

does anybody know what the reliable kits are?? i'm going to purchase one soon and i want as little headache as possible. thanx...trust

Shaved doors are pretty kool.... I had both my doors fail on me... as I was coming from a food joint.... I tried 10 times to press the alarm button to make it open, but the poppers were dead.... so I had to go through the trunk and open the door.. LOL.... after that I took it into a stereo shop, and they made everything work again..... It works great now..... and people always wonder how the hell I get in my car ... It's funny shyt.

Is it true you can't run at tracks if u have shaved handles, for a safety reason. Or is that jsut at SOME tracks.

but i dont have electric locks so does this mean i cant just get the autoloc kit...or do i need to get more parts...

someone might wanna correct me if im wrong but all the things youll need are:

the popper
the thing that pulls the bear claw open
door lock acuators(sp??) since you dont have power

all you need is the solenoids, control box, and remote. Poppers aren't necessary.

Sorry I'm a newbie in this field. But I also am planning on removing my door handles (in fact I'm overdue, need to order asap, starting project in one week) and need to know what to buy.

I have a Clifford secuity system and had power door locks added. So I dunno exactly what I need. What I'd like is have the door open when I push my open button on my remote from Clifford ideally.

I'm not really sure how shaved handles would work without power locks. I had them added to my car. You wouldn't really have to lock the doors anyway without door handles. The popper has nothing to do with a lock. It's basically just a spring that pushes the door open when the solenoid releases the latch. I don't have poppers, for fear of hitting something with the doors. Most people would rather have the poppers though, b/c you can actually open the door all the way. My doors just open like if you walk up now and pull the handle up and free the door enough to where you can pull it open. :thumb:

Oh I forgot to ask a question regarding the doors opening... They basically both then open up huh? What if I just want the driver side open? Can you make it so that you press twice on the remote and both open?

Alright heres what your gonna need. 2 door poppers, 2 actuators(35-50 lbs) and a brain(computer brain that is). Power locks don't matter because the actuator pulls open the bear claw, removing the latch from the hook, and the door popper will just crack the door enough for the latch not to regrab the hook. If you already have the an alarm. check to see if you have an aux channel or two. Two would allow you to open one door at a time( which would kind of be important considering you don't want both of your doors to open if its just you getting into the vehicle. Now using your alarm as a brain you will most likely need a relay to be able to send the 12 volt spike to the door actuators. Now the easy and best suggestion I can make is go to A1 Electric and get one of their kits. Cheap and good quality. Comes with everything you need including a brain for only around $130. Hell of a deal. Thats what I used but then I just hooked it up to my alarm instead of having to use two key pads. Looks great and you get nice reactions out of people when you walk up and your door pops open. And once again, don't worry about your door flying open and hitting something. The popper only pushes out a few inches. Good luck, lates, Mike

well hopefully this shit works...i got the autoloc kit w/ alarm and 35lbers...all for 179...did you install your yourself?...easy?

Yea I did mine myself and it is pretty easy. The hardest part I had was getting the power line that goes to the actuator through the factory boot between the actual door and the cab of the vehicle. Pain in the ass, took me close to an hour to fish that through. At the end of the boot is a harness and not just an opening. So I had to pry the harness up enough to squezz through the wire, damn sucked. Lol, other than that because alarm and electronics knowledge would help. Good luck, Lates, Mike

where did you mount your solenoid...i got my kit and looking at putting it in the bottom of the door..thing is though is that the mounting bracket is to wide...also where did you install your poppers?

Please, do yourself a favor.... just leave the door handles alone.

I worked for Autoloc as their graphic designer. I did their logos, most of their new packaging, catalog, magazine ads, and just about all of the illustrations in the ads.

I know what goes on there every single day.

Just say no.

is there a write up on this done somehwere? i'd like to do this too, im repainting my car soon so shaving the door handles will be easy enough

thanks

Why not exactly? Like their not reliable?

My alarm right now doesn't let me use my keys to open my doors anyway, so it would seem the same as not having those handles at all. Just have them pop up a bit. ;-)
