How to seperate rod and piston?

I picked up a block today, and have completely torn it apart to go to the Machine shop Monday.

How do I seperate the Rod from the Piston? Its all stock stuff from a 6 bolt.

Never took a 4g63 apart but on the supra their are little "rings" that hold the center pin in and once you get those little rings out that pin will or should slide out. Then the rod can come free.
 
So I can use a torque wrench for that, right?
no, a torque wrench is for appling a accurate amount of torque to a fastener.
To press something out or in you usually need a hydrolic press. Most people don't have on at home so they go to a shop and it done for them.

With enough of a cheater, you bet. You may need to stand in an adjacent county....

Some fasteners in the Great Big World work on hollow studs which have a hydraulic fitting on them. You apply a bazillion pounds of hydralic pressure to them, and turn the nut -about the size of a DSM wheel- hand-tight. The pressure's then bled off, and the fastener becomes a bit snug.
Standing inside the crankcase of a B&W Diesel ship engine gives you whole new views of automotive engines, and what dinky little toys 454 Rat motors are.
