Hey, are there any good tutorials or "who to's" on how to replace the rear window glass and the 1/4 windows. I've got to replace both and the Chiltons and Haynes both say to leave it to the pros. Is that everyone else's advice? I can get them cheap from a junkyard...

It's just like removing and replacing a windshield for the rear quarters. If you can get the glass cheap then get it, if you don't know how to replace a windshield then I would recommend getting the glass then getting a pro to install it.

Removal is fairly easy for the 1/4 windows. I used a heat gun to heat the top front corner, then fed a strong/thin fishing line in the heated part. Then (extra hand helps) saw away at the sealant starting by going down the top body line. Then tape that part that was cut using a painters type tape so the window wont fall out. Go around the bottom sawing, then tape the bottom. Then go up the side with the fishing line. When finished carefully remove the tape and the window.

I have never messed with the hatch glass as I never had a need to. I would imagine it's fairly the same.

Most auto parts store carry it, I got some from autozone last time I needed it. I believe it was called window weld?

I had a large scratch in one of my 1/4's, so one day I was at the junkyard the sun was beating down on the cars, and it came off really easy. Pop off the few bits of plastic trim, I think there was a hand full of screws underneath it. Then the day I was pulling the one off my own car it was cold, so I just used a propane torch to heat the edge around the glass (flame on the glass directly, won't hurt anything) the warmer you get it the easier the black goo lets go.

Heat up the goo again and then put in the new glass. replace the few screws, snap in the plastic and you're done.. 20-30miute job.
