And how does it screw into the other side if I were to leave it? It came with this transmission I'm putting in but my old transmission didn't have one.

I'm confused on how it is supposed to work. Thanks

There's supposed to be an 8mmX1.25 bolt that goes in from the engine side. The 10X1.25 threads in the engine block are unused on FWD/AWD applications. I suspect the threads in the transmission were damaged in some way, and that stud was placed in the transmission to solve the problem. Or they may have installed the stud to prevent wear to the threads. Check that the stud is the right size, and perhaps use a nut instead of a bolt in that location. Alternatively, if you do want to pull that stud, the double nut trick should work just fine.

Thanks. Still confused tho; I'm pretty sure I have to remove it. And I'm guessing I'll have to just find the appropriately sized bolt to screw in there. And I'll use the 2 nut trick which I used a few months ago. How did I forget. I'm on the right track tho right? Thanks guys

Hey, colt4g63 also *panting*, did the 90 colt of yours come with awd or did you do that along with the 4g63 yourself? If so do you have a thread on it?

Liquid wrench and slowly back off with 2 nuts! overnight would be better for the liquid wrench to work !

If you're confused about the block being threaded, as well as the transmission being threaded, and you're thinking, " Hmm, how the hell do I slide the transmission on to a threaded hole in the block with the threaded stud sticking out?". It's probably because you don't understand that the threads in the transmission side are supposed to take a much smaller bolt than the threaded hole on the engine block, and that therefore the proper sized bolt would pass directly through the engine block hole without touching the threads.

What you should have titled your thread was, "How the hell do I repair the hole in my transmission that someone drilled out and put an oversized stud into?"

Then someone would have responded,"You either drill out the threads in your block, and run with it like the last guy did, or you can try to put a helicoil or timesert in the transmission, and replace the stud with the proper sized bolt."

Thats my transmission the area stripped out my shop threaded that in there, and i used a nut to go on the end of it, it worked fine the stud was a bit short, but it worked for me, got my awd and no problems there.

Yup, can't wait to get it in. Have my quaife already in the. Just have a bunch of other prep work and a bad back in my way but I'm at it diligently. Don't want to mess anything up. First time with most of thus stuff. Already lost track of a couple synchro gears between New and old trannies. Cat knocked collection of parts over so might be making another thread LOL unless I can figure it out. Good stuff.
