How to own a DSM in California?

there's no way my car would last in Cali.... even though its not that far off from stock looking ,.. and forget about smog tests, .... I Love California, I was born and raised in Palm Spings, and would love to move back, but I enjoy a nice modded looking engine bay and I would'nt be able to keep my engine bay "stock appearing"... BS .....
I know you can try to drive nice and not cause attention, but all it takes is one time, thats just too risky and would make me paranoid just driving....... Never will a cop ask to pop your hood in Oregon....

so yes prop's to you guys with modded DSM's in Cali, but I feal bad for some that will not take there car to that next level because of police....

I'm with you, Cali is nice but I couldn't handle always having to worry about that.

Gamble, and Golf .... there is a few nice casino's there and really nice golf coarses, if your into that.....lots of night clubs, good resturants, and on Thursday nights they have a "street fair "on the main strip downtown, lots of people and hot ass chicks ..... also a Roaring Rapids Water Park, its pretty kick ass.

I'll be moving out to Cali in about 1 or 2 years, and Ill be damed if I give up my DSM.
My plan is to throw a cat and all the charcoal canister evap stuff back on. Go to long rout IC pipes painted black, stock apearing intake tube ect. ect. ect.

But my question is, I'll be plopping in an FP Green soon. Do you guys think it would pass a visiual inspection? It's clearly not stock, but not a sore thumb, if you know what I mean. Also, what do you guys do about things like AFPR? Do you try to hide them?

heat shields are your friend, and my AFPR is out in the open but I plan on hiding it somewhere soon. If you smog, make sure you go to someone who is lenient.

How is the smog check done there? I don't understand that? Do shops do it? Or is it done by the state? Here in Wisconsin, it is done at state testing facilities.

if you move to cali, DO NOT take you car to any old shop to have it smogged because if it fails no friendly shop will help you out. We socal dsmers take care of each other

Cali isn't bad at all. My car has no parts that are Carb legal just don't drive crazy in places where. There is police as for smog you need the cash for it. But I have had my car I Cali running a fmic exhaust and what not with no problems. But I am usually in a suit and I do look white.

And like he said, it was probably impounded in some kind of drug bust. You'd be surprised all the cars you see in the impound lot, mainly are high-end or high horsepower cars and they sell them for dirt cheap at auctions etc.

Individual shops do it, normal there are many of us that know some places as far as socal I'm sure one of these guys can help. Remember , the community is tight, don't bite the hand that feeds you.

2 dont blast music
3 dont try to impress the guy in the yellow cavalier
4 dont drive like an ass
5 keep it in your pants
6 if your in the military register it back home
7 keep the bov whistle to a minimum
8 don't drive a civic
9 don't smoke pot while blasting music and racing yellow cavaliers

Don't quote me on this but from stories I've heard SoCal has it hardest to the point where the impound lot destroys/ crush cars. But last I also heard San Jose has it pretty bad to the point where they can't have exhaust. But that was 4 years ago.

So it's like from San Deigo- San Fran area everything in between.

On another note drive behind or in front of a exhaust/ riced out civic because cops will likely pull them over you... real talk.

For you bay area guys, it's been a while since I lived there but I forgot where they have that trans am or something... was it around New Ark or something.

Socal is the starter of JDM, City Of Industry, socal when I go down, I see roll caged evos, boosted s2k's, daily driven on the street. I drive from SF to San Jose almost 6 days a week, and I do get scared in certain areas of SJ.

I get scared SHITLESS when driving up north, the police there will pull you over for ANYTHING and crush your car without thinking twice. The cops here are a little more nice IMO.
