How to on removing gearbox

I am rebuilding my Lancer Evo II engine,and i heard that it is better to put gearbox and engine together outside the car and then put the complete lump in the car again. A friend removed the engine from my car,but he put back the gearbox so it was easier to transport the car.

Is there a "how to" on removing the gearbox?

Support the tranny with something and remove the bolts from the mounts and either lift it out or drop it through the bottom

Dount for get to pop out the axles if the got put back in for some reason, and make sure there no fluid in the tranny. Don't pull it out from the top unless you have a hoist or help, you don't want to hurt your back or drop it.

Thanks guys.Do I need to remove the weels and hubs to get out the axles? They put them back into the gearbox.

You sure do, though you can get away with leaving the drivers side wheel and hub on and just pull the tranny away from it. However you will need both off for the install.
