Ive searched and could only find little information and the pics they had didnt work. I really just need to know who its mounted to the sub frame. Pics would be awsome.

I run a lawn & garden battery underneath the TB area with a universal battery tie down holding it to the front subframe. I have that wired in to a full size battery in the trunk to get enough CCA for a Michigan winter cold start.

There is a thread on dsmtalk with a bunch of pictures: HOW TO: Re-mount battery low and out of sight!. The pictures on the first page are gone but there are a bunch on the other pages. The guy modified his factory battery mount a little bit, welded it to the subframe, and made a tie down strap.

I did something similar to mine yesterday, except there were no modifications to the mount and no welding. All I had to do was put 2 bends into a strip of flat steel to make a tie down. I could put everything back to stock in about 15 minutes if I needed to. It only cost me $5 bucks for the flat steel, it was 1/8" X 3/4" X 48" and I only used less then half of it.

Here are some pics:

The whole engine bay with the battery mounted low. I'm rebuilding my throttle body at the moment so I can't post pics with everything just yet. Once I install the TB, UICP, and intake I'll post some more pics.

A view from the top. It is solid, it doesn't rock or wiggle at all.

$5 and about an hour of work. I'm happy with it.

Here is the finished product. I went back and made a 1/8" steel plate to protect the to bottom and side of the battery. I'm still very happy with how this turned out. What do you guys think?

i dn't have any left and don't have a pic on this hard drive, but i built a tray with a ford style mounting strap/bolt that actually mounts to the transmission and will pass tech for SCCA racing. A lot of guys just set the battery down there after pulling the stock tray so it can be done many ways but i prefer my battery secure. (actually there's pics of mine in the fab area on the third pager IIRC) if ya want one and don't have what ya need to buid it yourself hollar at me i'll make ya one for 50 shipped

the battery sits just like the one above but rotated 90* clockwise just FYI ( well and it's in a 97 2g FWD)

Why not remount it in the rear and get rid of it in the engine bay all together?

Exactly like turboglenn said, FWD! I made a simple plate that goes under it and bends and goes up the front (by the motor mount) so there isn't any rubbing. Also that tie down I made holds it tight! There is no wiggle room whatsoever.

Just a little update, as you can see in the first picture my tie down strap was making contact with one of the battery cell fill caps so last night I modified my tie down and now it works even better. It's been low mounted for 4 months now and so far no problems at all.
