hey guys, im getting a body kit on my car...but i also want to lower it. i was just wondering how low is too low wit the body kit on? i want to bring down that wheel gap a good bit...but i dont want to be scratchin up my car if i go over a speed bump or anythin.also what springs do u recommend?i heard eibach ones r pretty nice. i really dont wanna spend too much more than 200 on em.also r the ones on ebay any good?thanks guys.

The Eibach are nice. The sportlines offer more of a drop (1 3/4'' to 2 1/4'') for $20 less, but don't really give a nice ride,,kinda bouncy. The prolines offer a little less drop (1 1/4'' to 1 3/4'') but offer a much smoother ride. The prolines will run around $230. Just remember,,you get what you pay for, so remember that if you buy a knockoff brand from ebay. :thumb:

i went with the sportlines and i have the street fighter front end on my car while running 215/45/17s and i was slammed. the front was about a lil over 2.25 inches off the ground you couldnt put your foot under it in spots or put a cigeratee(sp??) under it standing up. i like it but its IS a pain to get around. and i have about .25 inch of wheel gap

as for ride its a rough but what do you expect running small tires and lowered, on a sport car.

The 2G eclipse body is big so naturally lowering your eclipse is going to drastically lower the body but not so much the wheel well. The problem is that mitsu built the cars like a rock crawler with a ton of wheel well. I have the eibach prolines and I am very happy with the drop. I dropped about 1 1'4 inch all around and the body is plenty low. My wheelwell looks a lot better as well. If you ad a body kit it definitly is going to be scrapping. Thus the woes of a body kit!!

1 TIP

TAKE EVERYTHING AT ANGLES and you will be fine !!

Good luck

Eibach doesnt make anything called a proline.

eibach makes sportlines and prokits, the prokit is 1.25 drop and the sportline is 1.8 i got sporlines but they are not installed yet. if you are going to drop your car makes sure you get shocks cause the 2g shocks dont have much travel as it is and when you lower them down more with springs its going to be alot less. tokico illuminas have prolly the best travel from what ive heard.

Have any questions you can PM me

Here's the scoop. The sportlines lower the car 1.6", not 1.8". Trust me. I am currently using the Sportlines with Tokico shocks. I love the set-up. It's not the best for ride quality, but you cant expect a moded sports car to ride like a Bentley. I also have a urethane Blitz body kit and between the suspension and the kit, it sits very low. I can go to most alright. I avoid most speedbumbs and go extremely slow over the unavoidable ones. Driveways - you gotta hit them at an angle so you dont scrape. You'd get used to it though. I like how mine turned out. I would definately recommend Eiback springs. Prokits are tighter and lower 1.2", and the sportlines have a little more "bounce" and lower 1.6". I wouldnt recommend using the stock shocks, but it is possible. You'll feel it in you ass everytime you hit a bump though. Also, remember you'll have to get a camber kit when you lower it. Dont let anyone tell you, you wont need one, cuz you will. Here's a pic of my ride height. I got more in my gallery.

thanx guys...so u guys recommend i buy the eibach prokit, shocks, and a camber kit?how much is that gonna cost me?

Not to discourage anybody or anything, but I've had Sportlines on for about 2 years now, and well, they won't be on for much longer. First of all, lately the car has been bottoming out on eveything. Looking at the springs, they seemed to have gradually sagged over the past 2 years to the point that the front springs are compressed so much that the rear springs actually have no compression whatsoever. If I were to take them out, they'd just slide right out no problem...which is actually the problem. I've got them setup with KYB AGX's, and it's been all daily driving, no track at all. Well anyway, they do have a 10 year warranty, so I'm going to try and get some money back, but just wanted to let everyone know. I'm sure it's not a common occurance, especially from Eibach, but it does happen.

I have an Eibach Pro-kit with Koni Yellows and no body kit. I think the car rides just fine, rough on freeway joints and bad pavement, which is expected, but nothing out of the ordinary. I have never bottomed it out, but all I do is street driving. However, I can't imagine going with anything lower. All it takes is a slightly steep driveway or going a little to fast over a speed bump with anything in the hatch like a few bags of groceries and my N-1 exhaust scrapes. Sometimes I look at the car from a profile and I wish the rear were just a tad lower, then I get in an drive it downtown and I wish I had airbags or hydraulics so I could raise it up six inches just to park the damn thing in certain places.

My advice, get some GC's and play around with it until you get the drop you are comfortable with.

adding on to the thread cus i dont feel like posting a new one...but uh...what height is good for...improved road handling without the bad afects of hitting high speed bumps....remember i have a 95 with the old school 2g bumper....so how much of a drop should i go with?

^^^^^^ Go with the eibach pro-kit. its about 1.2" compared to the 1.8 of sportlines. But from what most people tell me pro-kit makes it alot better in corners without hurting you on speedbumps.
