I have been looking all around and searched this whole board and couldn't find a guide to installing a starter in a 2g GST. I am looking at a GST that I would need to replace the starter in and wondering how it is done. If someone can give me a link or something that would be great. Thanks. :thumb:

Take out battery, move whatever crap thats in the way out of it, remove starter, (this is when you would want a pack of smokes and a friend with you) and disconnect the wires after you get the starter off the engine. Oh, first thing, get a manual, it tells you all that stuff. :shhh:

I know, I am going to get a manual soon. But I am not 100% sure I am going to get a 2g dsm, so I just wanted to see if the starter thing was hard. I could do it is it just takes basic hand tools. I have done full bolt-ons on my old 94 z28, that thing was hard to work on. Thanks for your help.

It can be done with basic hand tools. You are gonna have to wiggle n' jiggle to get it from under the intake mani after you take the two bolts off, but its nothing you cant handle. :thumb:

Thanks for the info.

when i put my engine back in my car after the rebuild, i had to install a new starter. i had no manual and this was my first engine rebuild just to give you an idea with experience. it took me about 10 minutes so you will be able to do it very easily. just unbolt the 2 bolts and the nut holding on the power line. and when you put another one back in, dont forget to hook up that really tiny connector that just slides right on that little tab of metal, its easily overlooked.
