Hey guys... I was just wondering if you guys could help me out as far as upgrades come. Personally, I do not want the car going REALLY fast. I do not plan on upgrading the turbo at all. But how can I get the most out of my stock Engine and Turbo? I'm currently doing a major tune-up, as you may have seen in my other thread. During the transcourse, I've decided to list make a little list of upgrades I want to get eventually to get the max out of my 1G with stock engine and turbo. All I have until now is a new exhaust system. Not sure which to get either, but looking for recommendations... And any other upgrades just to increase the performance of my 1G [stock turbo/engine]? Should I change my manifold?

Well, first off search and read. Use this site and others to get your upgrade path. You are wanting to maximise air in, burn (air, fuel), and exhaust out. Some parts are bolt on and some will require work (porting). But first search so that you know what everybody else is telling you.

Hardpipes and basic bolts ons will get you where you want.I'm doing the same and shooting for 250 whp and 13's in the 1/4 to keep it reliable and enjoyable.

Thank you. This is what I needed to search around and then ask more specific questions. Thanks!

Right now, money is not an object. Even though I am broke, I do not plan on buying these things immidietly. Just something to work with. Eventually, once I get a job, and my scholarship sends me the money, I can start buying some parts. I also want to install them myself, but not sure how easy that'll be... considering I am very new to the mechanic world.

I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations as for a FUEL PUMP. [If im not mistaken, fuel pumps handle more gas?] I'm also getting a fuel filter [part of my tune-up].

To increase the air flow, I am getting a K&N Air Filter stock replacement.

As for exhaust, I have no definitive plan yet. Just looking for suggestions to eventually buy a whole exhaust system.

Any suggestions?

I'm from Puerto Rico. We barely have gas. Gas prices are VERY high. We do not have E85, our goverment does not support alternate energy solutions[There have been several attempts, I personally know the owner of a solar panel company, but the goverment is the worst enemy here. Starting off with personal fundings is very difficult. And our goverment does not want to support these types of projects] They are wierd. Can't wait till USA intervenes and helps us out here. ;)

Basically just getting the best out of my 1G, with gasoline ;)

Any recommendations as to specific brand-names or models to purchase? I may know what I need, but not EXACTLY. The list looks good, but they could sell me a sheep and tell me its for the water/meth injection and I'd have no idea. If you could maybe be more specific as to what to buy? Recommendations? Fuel Pump, I was thinking the Walbro fuel pump. Not sure if it brings a AFPR.

I've checked out the upgrade path, but it is beyond my goals. I do not want to get THAT much horsepower. Just squeeze the max out of my 1G with a stock turbo and engine... Only adding things like intake, exhaust, etc. Nothing too big.

@calan -> Wow... Then I guess we're fcked. LOL

@JayRolla -> In another thread of mine, someone told me that if I get bigger injectors, I'd have to upgrade-update my ECU. Is this true? How would that work?

Thats what the safc is for. Since you want to stay cheap I would go with the maf translator. This allows you to get rid of the stock maf for a gm-maf and compensate for injectors. Then the apex-i safc is for fine tuning the fuel curve.

I would buy the walbro 190lph fuel pump and you wont need a fuel pressure regulator. That will be enough to support your 14b or a 16g if you ever upgrade. With fuel mods you want to do them all at the same time. Install injectors, fuel pump, safc and maf-t and setup lo throttle tune with a logger. After that you can have it tuned on a dyno or buy a wbo2 and you can do it yourself.

If you get a water/meth kit it will allow you to get the most out of the turbo on pump gas. Difference of running lets say 18psi with 0 knock and 22-25psi with 0 knock. Snowperformance has awesome kits. Just research a lot more and read a lot, you will get all your answers off this website, it just takes some time.
