I have a sidwinder 5000 alarm and I have looked for some time and cant find out how to disarm the auto lock with ignition on . The valet switch and led are working properly and the car is stuck in auto arm and lock 30 sec after ignition is turned off. This is ok cause I got a turbo timer and can just leave the car and it will shut off and arm itself but I always have to unlock the door when I get out and leave the car running by hand.. Does anyone know how to turn this feature on off. Also how to turn the auto arm on off. All I have been able to find out is how to put it in valet mode, but then the alarm only locks and unlocks the doors and still locks the door with the ignition on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

your alarm is set to passive arming. to change to active, open your car door, then put the key in the ignition and turn the key on, then off. Now push the valet button in four times, then hold it in. The led should flash four times and car should chirp four times. now hit button one(farthest to left) and alarm should chirp once. release program button and turn key on then off again(just to be sure your out of program mode) and voila!

is there anyway to stop the auto locking when the car starts? or will taking it out of passive stop this? Thanks for the info :thumb:

to shut the locks off, do the same routine i told you, but this time push the valet 3 times, then hold it in, and the car willlchirp three times. Now hit button 2 to shut off the door locks with ignition. If you want the car to not arm the alarm on its own, then do the routine again, but push the valet once then hold, and hit button 1 to shut off auto arming. peace in your crease! ;) :dsm:

I tryed both with no avail. I opened the car door, then put the key in the ignition and turned the key on, then off. then pushed the valet button in four times, then held it in. then i beeped once pause then twice paused then siren went off for a second. then nothing. I have tried pushing button 1 and 2 after first beep and second and after the siren. all following with turning key on and off to take out out program mode. I have turned the key on and off fast and slow and the same with pushing the valet. The door switch works. I have also done the same with pushing the valet 3 times with the same sequence of beeps. What is the proper timing for this. Any one have any ideas.

I am having another problem today.. I still have not been able to change from passive to active but now it will not let me lock my doors. If I lock them either with the remote or by the lock they instantly unlock as soon as they lock. It will arm and lock then unlocks the doors but stays armed so my alarm is armed with the doors unlocked  . Does this sound alarm related? Does the eclipse 1g type power door locks work on a grounding system and the unlock is grounded out somewhere? It acts like my old bmw when you try to lock the doors with the door open. The door adjar light is out and works for both door and regardless they should still lock even with the door open. This car has a nest of wires under the dash and when I bought the car I went thought them and resodered bad wiring and electrical taped connections. I remember a couple months ago the car did this and it just went away after some days on its own? Any thoughts?

you have a Turbo timer.
Turn the key on and turn off the turbo timer before you attempt the sequence.

It holds the ignition on when you are cycling the key so yau are not "actually" turning the key off on off on etcetc from the alarms perspective.

And the reason you don't find this in your manual is b/c these set ups are in the installer manual which is not given to the customer..

Check your drivers side door pin switch, it is probably open... wiht the key on (TT again) and the pin switch open you can't lock the doors to prevent you from getting locked out.

I dident think of the timer but I almost never have it on. Very good point though. But I took dash apart which took a couple min and unhooked the alarm and it still will not lock. I ended up pulling the door lock relay which solves all my problems but i have no keyless entry. Maybe I will try again making sure the timer is off but when I have the dash apart the door was open ,key off for atleast 15min and it would still not lock? I can hear the relay clicking open and then imeadiatly shut. Could the relay be bad, or most likely the wire to the relay with unlocks the doors is grounded out? Same results with alarm disconected so that rules out the alarm as the problem. I think. Thanks for the help. :thumb:

the other thing it could be is the "key sense" wire. If that is set where the ECU sees the key is in (even when it isn't) it's going to unlock the doors as sonn as you lock em.

With the ignition on and doors closed, the doors lock properly, correct?

yes they do sir. That must be the prob. No wonder it is impossable to program this thing :thumb:
