How to clean/recondition factory radio?

So I have an Infinity Double DIN cassette headunit. Itt works well for how old and unknown life.

The all buttons work most of the time. If they don't work the first time I just press them harder and they work.

For the lights in the EQ will randomly dim, or just go out then after tapping it or hit a bump they come back on. This also happens with other lights.

Anyone know how to clean a headunit like this?

I was planning on getting Q-tips and 90% rubbing alcohol and just clean all the connections.

That's pretty much what you're looking at. When I work on drowned or othwerwise damaged laptops/iphones etc. I use contact cleaner/90% iso.

For the buttons, remove the faceplate and douse them good with the solution and click them a bunch of times. Then promptly wipe off any excess to prevent any potential discoloration of the plastic. This clearly up 95% of button problems. If the buttons are removable, then you can do so and do a better job of cleaning the contact points.

As for the LCD, well it likely the connections are old/dirty and just need to be cleaned up. But, it's also possible that the components themselves are failing. The LCD for my logitech z5500's started dimming on one half 2 years after purchase. You'll have to open the radio up entirely to service the lcd or tape heads.

I'm not worried about the tape deck part, I can't remember the last time I had one in my hand. But it does have an AUX in, pretty badass for a 16+year old radio.

Is there a specific brand alcohol solution that I should look into using?
