Car will not start. Has been running good but not today will crank over fine but nothing else. So far checked battery, mpi fuse, ignition transistor and pulled fuel line off fuel rail to see if getting fuel. Everthing seems ok so far. Ran out of time and went to work. So need to know how to check coil pack. Have a haynes manual and it says to do ohms check on coils, is that only way to check it? Also need to figure how to check CAS. Book says to check wiring harness plug for volts but how do you check the part. Doesnt make sense. Just ordered factory manuals tonight wont get for couple days and want to fix soon. Any ideas or instructions on checking ignition parts.Have done alot of searches but cant find answer. No vac list of trouble shooting no start problems even though seems common event. Thanks for any help!!!
 
So no one has any ideas or help.Oh well heres the deal if anyone will respond that knows about this problem. Put a test light on end of injector plug and turned over car got a light. So I guess they are getting power. Took of wiring harness plug to CAS and tested for volts with ignition switch on, got right volts. Took off CAS turned key on spun it by hand to hear if injectors clicking nothing. Read that in some forum to test it, think its B.S. though? Anybody know how to test CAS? Tested coil secondary resistance read about 13000 ohms in the posts like haynes book said. Dont know about coil primary resistance. Checked terminals 3 and 2 also 3 and 1 of the coil elec connector got 5.0 ohms. Book says should be 0.7 to 0.86. Dont know if its bad or I'm screwing up testing it. Also took out another spark plug and grounded to block turned over car no spark. If any experts could reply before I go out and buy parts I dont need would really help.

I recently had the problem similiar to yours. I had fuel but no spark and it was my Cam Sensor. I really can't give you much direction because mine is a 2g and I haven't messed with any 1g's. Do you have one coil or 2?
 
Think its 2. Hard to see under intake manifold. Just ordered used coil pack from ebay . Guess Ill see when it gets here. May go to junk yard and look for CAS now nothing else to do but work on car every weekend. thanks for reply!

Anybody out there?Throw me a bone here! Any HELP on testing for no start condition PLEASE!Car turns over no spark.Need troubleshooting tips, I suck at that.Loving daughter and wife think we should get new good car and dsms suck, just their mech. Gonna be in nut house soon so wont be bugging posting anymore!!!!!!!!!!!
 
i had a similar problem on my 91 laser rs it would crank and crank and crank and u could smell fuel. i checked the cas and it was ok. i tried a new set of coils still didn't work. turns out that my transistor was fried. it didn't look like it was but upon opening it it was black possible overload of somekind but anyways i got a transistor out of a scrap yard for $3 and i bought the car for $385 and that was its problem

it still runs like a champ 2 this day

If your CAS is anything like the 1g CAS, then you're going to take a multimeter and measure the output voltage of either the cam OR the crank by slowly turning it by hand. Make sure the key is in the ON position but the engine doesn't have to be running. If it's working right, voltage will be really small (like mV) and then it'll go up to 4-5Vdc once it triggers. Like I said, this is how I've done it on the 1g CAS. It might work for you.
 
Thanks for help, cant get anything out of cas. Pulled off motor turned with key on dont here anything. Checked for volts coming out of it best I could aint got jack! Guess its bad. Anybody got a good used cas laying around.Think Ill be going to the bank to get a loan in a few days if cant find good used one. Could be worse. WTF
 
OK,How do you test a CAS if your electrically declined? PLus the coil I thought was half bad seems good.Man I need classes on this stuff. Since Im working on something with a star on the side and have history with a 76 dart for over 10 years just did it old school. Went to another junk yard, found same car took of CAS and a battery box. Got change back from 30 bucks and an hour of more fun than disney.Just love bone yards! Put CAS in and it works fine.Car started right up. Didnt have to spend 300 for new one. Seems fine gonna check timing and set idle this weekend even though its pretty sweet now.Wish I could figure out whats gonna break next cause this car was still freshly junked. OH WELL. Everyone was right again on DSMtuners and the car is going. :thumb: THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
