So I've got a nice fuel odor in the oil about 500 miles after an oil change and I'm trying to track down the cause. My first theory is a leaky injector, based on the fact that related symptoms seem to point to one bad injector (hard hot start, pulling plugs one cylinder smells of gas), so I've got a new 450 ready to go in once I get new o-rings for all the injectors. If it turns out not to be that, I've got a few more options. Bad O2 sensor (but no CEL is thrown, no pocketlogger to check it with), bad FPR (all stock, doubt this is it), or the timing is messed. I had the timing belt done a few months ago and I'd like to double check their timing job. I know about the timing light and all that, but doesn't the stock ECU compensate for slight out of time issues? Would I have to just pull the timing cover and check the gears? I hope this made some sense.
