how to bypass cruise control on 1g?

i thought i could just take it out and run the throttle cable to the throttle body. but it seems harder than that. is there a kit to bypass it? custom brackets?

You'll need a throttle cable from a Talon, Eclipse, or Laser without cruise control. Then you will need to remove the entire cruise control setup from under the hood and just attach the new cable. It's pretty easy, I just did it to mine last week. I got the cable from the junk yard for $4.

I did it.
Just unplug everything related to the curise control on the engine bay. all the cruise wires has to come out. and leave the plugs aside.
What I did was:
Find a DSM 1.8L N/A Manual (I don't know about any phisical difference between manual and Auto.) I got told by another local dsmtuner that has to be 1.8 L, because they rarely have cruise control.

and hook it up as it should go.
It works great for me i was tired of my sticky and hard GAS pedal.

You need to fab u your own harness bracket, but it isn't too hard. Check out the pic

You can remove it without buying other cables I did. All you do is remove the second cable (the one attached to the trottle body) Take it off the car. Take the bracket that is attached to the cable, the one that attaches it to the intake manifold chisel it out do not brake it you will need this. Once you have removed the bracket wrap it around the first cable (the one attached to the pedal) Hammer it around the cable and use a nut and thread it on the cable against the bracket. Mount the bracket back on the manifold and hook it back to the TB and you're done. It might sound a little confusing the way I explained it but if you have questions PM me, I have actually done this and it worked fine for 3 yrs so it's not hear say.

Oh, I tried doing it this way too, I don't know if you have a problem with it, but the throttle cable would stick on me this way because of the play and I would have a throttle delay too. But if that works for you who am I to argue with you, always more then one way to skin a cat.

Its easiest to just go buy a non cruise cable from a 1.8 without cruise. No modifications or anything. Its amazing the difference it makes in pedal feel.

ps. DO NOT USE MY METHOD. My pedal did get stuck finally. It stayed at 7000 until i pulled up pedal. Just buy the cable. It isn't worth the problems
