Hello,

i have a '91 talon with a strange problem of not wanting to crank. This is what the car does:

when i turn the key all the accesories come on, when i try to crank the motor, there is one single click at the starter, then everything fades out. If i try to turn the key off and then back on, nothing comes back up at all.

If i leave the car to sit for a couple of days or less and try to turn the key on, all the accesories come back up again until i try to crank, then everything else fades out again.

Tried different alternator, battery, testing the starter, by-passing ignition key and starter relay, unplugging as many things as possible, looking for possible shorts. It is not blowing any fuses but does show a full short on the battery.

I suspect a chassis short. Is there a way i could by-pass chassis harness and run the engine harness as a standalone system?

Or any other advice or tips would be highly appreciated!!

Thank you

Double check your grouds to make sure they're not corroded, especially the main one from the battery negative terminal to the body of the car.
