How to black out tailights?

I'm hoping to get a black 2g DSM, black tailights, black rims, black everything.

I think it's oh so cleeeeeean

^ On my car now, it's black, with black rear refelctors, and candy apple red taillights, with gunmetal rims. I love the look of it.

does this restrict any of the lighting behind it? i mean could it be used on the headlights as well?

And is it actually legal? Like, as someone said they got pulled over and said that they weren't covers, so since it isn't covers, is it legal or illegal?

I would have to imagine that it is illegal in any state ( of course depending on the degree of blacking out). The law would be the same whether these were covers or not because they have to be a specific way, size, brightness and all that and blacking them out is not going to be legal almost any where.

I have chrome Altezzas in right now, if I smoked them black, do you think that would like nice?

It probably would look roughly the same as the black altezzas but then again it could look totally different. That would be your call, couldnt say yes or no to that one.

Yeahh, I was thinking about selling these and just buying black Altezzas, but then I saw this thread and figured I could just buy some Nightshade and do that, but I'm not sure how good it'll turn out and then I'll get bright red LED's for my brake lights so it shines bright through the smoke.

Yeah if you want to try it out go for it. Nightshade is relatively easy to work with so you should be ok

Will also do nightshades on my taillights to fullfill my Dark black 1g AWD, black everything.but white inside, dont know if I should do white or black or silver for the rims...

You can go onto motegiracing.com and check out what all the different rims they sell would look like on your specific car. That way you could get a general idea of what color looks the best at least. That is if you dont like any of the styles they sell. You can customize the color of the car and everything. I find that site quite helpful for doing applications like this
