blacked out tailights

i have a 97 talon, and i want to black out the taillights, first of all, is this legal? how does one blackout a tailight? could average joe do this in his garage? when ther lights are on can you still see the red when your brake and such? thank for your help

who really cares what is legal? I get pulled over for mine all the time. Never got a ticket. I sanded mine down and made them more smoked, rather than black. I like it better.

its like 200 yards or something like that. I've gotten yelled at, and I think thats what the cop said. Seems like a really long ways to me

I never said not to do it I was just stating the facts. I myself nightshaded my tails when I had my 2g, never got a ticket tho.
