So I know theese have been done before. Saw a couple pictures online where guys did them with electrical tape and liked the look. Getting a little tired of my interior project which I am finish up a complete tear out paint and redo, and decided to take a break and have a little fun with the tail lights. So I broke out my HVLP gun and went to work. Let me know what you think, sorry the car has been in storage for 5 months and is filthy.

Pictures would help.

No worries. I think those tail lights look awesome at night but during the day meh. I've been brain storming and was planning on doing the same thing but on the inside of the lense.

I was hoping to bake them in the oven like some people do with their headlights in order to get them open and then paint them from the inside. My tail lights are blacked out so if all goes according to planned then you won't be able to tell until they are actually on and lit up.

I did something similar to mine last summer. When you bake them if you do, 300 F for 3-4 min should be good. The trick is getting them back together with out leaks, you need to warm the seal as you press them back in together.

I like the tail lights, will probably be changing mine out to a similar approach after painting the car.

Did you use a heat gun to get it back together or just bake them again? And do you need to add any sort of sealant when you put them back together or is there is enough already?

I used a black silicone to help reseal them just to be on the safe side, but I rebaked them for another minute just before reassembly, heat gun would work too.

Thanks guys. No pics at night. Car is in storage and has no seats right now as im on month 3 of waiting for brackets for the new seats

Maybe Id like it better if the tail lights weren't already small to begin with.
I dig the originality though.

oh ok good luck on the build man i'll keep checking back for some night time shots, has someone else done this?

Looks a lot like the new Dodge Charger rear end. Not my style, but looks like it was well done.
