So here at a local audio shop they will install a 1000 ### amp, and a 12 inch sub and get it all wired and hooked up correctly for $400. now they provide the amp, all the wires and fittings, the actual subwoofer, and the box for it, for that price. and ive been asking friends and they say thats too much? but im thinking even if it is at least it would all be wired correctly and i wouldnt break my back. haha

what do you guys think?

Seems like a bit much. If I were you I would buy the stuff seperately and do it myself, but if you can't, buy them seperately and save the money and then have it installed professionally. Best Buy wired my first car's amp for about $90, but I provided them with all of the equiptment and wires and everything.

Where I'm from they have cash and carry stores for audio, you can get all of that plus a capacitor (so you don't kill your battery) for about 175-200. And if you have basic skills and some wire strippers it's not hard at all to hook up, just follow the directions on the wiring kit. Save yourself some money and get a better system for a lower price hope this helped.

yeahhh i mean coming across the equiment shouldnt be too much at all.
and i do have friends that say they know how to wire stuff up, and i know a few of my buddies can build boxes. i just want to get it done right the first time.

If you really want to make sure it's installed right, buy a box, amp, subwoofer, and wires (capacitor too if you want) and take it somewhere to have it all installed. Even most Best Buys have audio bays. It should come out well under $400.

need a little bit more information what brand amp and sub? thats means ALOT on if this is a good value or not an amp makes or breaks a system most likely that amp is 1000 watts max. and 300 watts rms

if that is all your looking for thats good but atleast get a quality brand.

You get what you pay for. And for that price, it seems that the sub/amp wouldnt be the best quality.

But my advice is to look online for the right sub/amp combo depending on your needs. You should be able to find a good deal. And for wiring, simply do a google search and you will find tons of forums and how to's for wiring everything up. Ive done it on several vehicles, and its pretty quite simple.

Building a box isn't hard as long as you build it right, Use caulk and lots of screws to make sure the wood makes a good solid barrier. Also placement is everything and direction of the cone. Honestly wiring it up is really easy, black to black, red to red, tuning the amp is the only thing thats a little annoying but its all just tinkering.

Sooo seems like everyones agreeing. I should basically just find all the parts beacuse it comes out cheaper and read up and learn. sounds funn, but im not sure how i would feel as my first system installation was on my own car and i did a horrible job haha

but ill definatly look around. any suggestions? on brand and price range. honestly tho i dont think ill be looking to spend over 500 all together. so any suggestions!

the types of music ill be listening to is mostly beats, like alot of underground hiphop and stuff like that. stuff with base.

get a set of kicker comp 12s and a 500.1 kicker amp you can pick these up for pretty cheap and just go to wal mart and get a d.i.y. scoche amp kit thats the best bang for the buck

you can get everything stated for under 400.00 total on ebay and will be 5x better than the other set up you were going to go with

niceeee well i work at target and they have a fairly small auto section, and there is a few sony things laying around and i have like two super wal marts here but i was always told you get better brands from audio shops so i never really gave wal mart or target a try. but i get a discount at target so im going to take a look.:thumb:

ill definatly check those out tho!

Lets see here, this is in my Grand AM but the premise is still the same here..

I paid $500 alone for just my sub box, and two 12' MTX TR something or anothers.
That's no wiring, no cap, and no amp. It is now adays highly recommended to NOT use a capacitor in an audio system, it is completely outdated technology. They cause your alternator to work harder than not having one does. You are going to want to look into a battery called the kinetik. They are about $149.00 for a small one on sale, and are the equivalent to a 100 farad capacitor.

Also, as has been stated above, its pretty doubtful that the amp is CEA 2006 compliant and so it doesn't have to put out even 150 watts and they can call it a 4000 watt amp if they want to. Even if it does put out as advertised, the signal to noise ratio might be really really bad. So make sure any amp you look at is CEA 2006 compliant. Most if not all PYLE, Pyramid, BOSS etc. brands are not and I would stay far far away.

You might want to look at Crutchfield: Car Stereo, Speakers, Home Theater, LCD TV, Digital Cameras That is the site I buy all of my audio equipment off of, and they have a phone line you can call until something like 2am and they will walk you step by step in installing anything you buy from them. They also give out free install kits with a lot of their products.

Hope this may be of some help to you.

Just some FYI, buying from the pawn shop is also a decent way of saving money when it comes to car audio. To me the only real down fall here is not getting matching equipment if that's what you want. But I personally got a 1700watt JBL amp, w 12's, a power cap and 6 gauge wiring kit for $275. Not a bad deal IMO.

I agree, look into the product your getting more. If you looking for just a little bump in the trunk, it might be worth it to you. But don't expect a head turning system for that price.

yeah damn guys all those look like relly good sites thanks for the advice.

and im not trying to turn heads and break necks, i just wanna be able to get a nice loud bump thats noticable but not obnoxious LOL, like 2 12's in the trunk sounds perfect to me.

Again pawn shops have good deals sometimes just go in see what they have and research them.
