How much heat can -AN fittings take?

I recently had my super 20g in the shop to get the elbow rewelded to driver side for shorter route piping, well now that the elbow is turned around 180 there is less room for my coolant return line which is -an and is now about 1/4-1/2" away from the exhaust housing, It is a 90 fitting that loops the line down and under the turbo to connect to the water pipe. I will be getting a turbo blanket that I hope will fit and keep the temps down but am worried about the short term.

Anyone have one actually melt or have the hose melt?

I think you'll be okay, the turbo will melt first before the AN fitting.

The line-- depend on which one you go with.

Stainless braided has the highest melting point over the nylon-ish line.


The braid will not melt, but the rubber-tubing under it may.

However I think you are good, if you really must you can find heat sheathing for your lines.

ah yes, forgot about the line sheathing, I will look into that as well. Thanks for the info.
