Ok, so i blew my head gasket the other day having a bit of fun which was probably a bad idea but not why i'm here. When i took my cylinder head off i actually looked at the deck and its pretty wicked. As in, with my valves closed they are a tiny bit out of the head. I've been looking at pictures of 1G and 2G cylinder head and i have yet to find one decked this much. So i guess i would like to know how much material can actually be taken off one of these heads? I baught it slightly used from someone in washington and didn't really get any specs on it, nor did i really look at the deck much before originally putting it on my engine(besides checking for warpage). I would like to try and figure out my compression ratio, and I'm running the 8.5:1 2G pistons all 20 over.

it is simple.. measure the thickness of the head, from VC rail to the head gasket surface, at all 4 corners.

New head spec is 5.200

now Mitsu says a combined total of .008 can be removed from the block and head.

AERA says .015 can be removed from the head for a min thickness of 5.185

the combustion chamber is closed up by appox 1cc per .007 milled

it is noy uncommon for the intake valves to protrude past the HG surface, they really will if they are +1mm valves

they will start to go past the HG surface once appox .010 has been milled.

you will want to do this mod....

so oil flow to and thu the head is restored

also DO NOT let your head be belt surfaced...
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/cyl...0613-why-not-let-your-head-belt-surfaced.html

you will also notice in the last couple pics , I had to remove the intake valves so I would not nic them when surfacing.

the surface on the head should look about like this
