how much boost can you run with 112 octane

There are way too many factors involved to give you a single solid number. What kind of turbo does he have? What else is done to the motor? What's the tuning situation? etc.

There's a power/psi cap on the turbo your friend is using.

The main thing to remember is detonation and pre-ignition can be avoided on any setup with a proper tune. A properly-tuned motor is a happy, healthy motor :D

Simply running 112 octane fuel and turning the boost up is not a good solution.

It'll depend on the tune he is running and whether he is logging or not, the turbo, internals, etc. etc.

You can have a T-25 and still only run 15psi because after that regardless of how high grade the fuel is, it's out of the efficency range for the T-25 and you'll be blowing hot air and destroying the turbo.

You could have a E316g and be good to run 25psi as the turbo loves it, but without a proper tune or the right injectors, you are not getting the right amount of fuel to the cylinders, which is bad.

Say you have a Holset HX40, the 112 octane (could) supports say 40psi from the HX40. Still in the efficiency range and you have the injectors to run it. So far so good, are the head studs capable of holding the power? Does he have a head gasket that will support it? How about main and rod studs that won't blow off from the torque?

What you'll need to know:
Just because some fuel can allow you to run more PSI doesn't mean it will run the same numbers on car A compared to car B. This is also why you need to log to see what the car is doing internally and whether or not your setup will allow said numbers. He'll have to do some runs with the race gas on a dyno preferable and figure out when he is knocking. Back the psi off, re check and if no knock then that is where he'll be safe on that tune. He could get it re tuned for the race gas and could get some more timing advance and lean out the octane table all around as well.
