I have an all stock 2g gst with 5sp.. i just bought an Manual boost controller.. but havnt installed. i was just wondering how much boost i run stock.. and what can i turn it up too with the mbc..??? :dsm:

Stock is 11psi and I wouldn't go past 15psi on the T25, even that is close to its limits or limiting the life of the turbo. I'm assuming you got a boost guage to go with your mbc?

yes i did buy a boost guage, air/fuel, and volt... :thumb:

Do not go past 15psi or 16psi. And the more you turn it up past 11psi, the less time your turbo has before it goes.

Basically, if you want to turn up the boost, start saving for a turbo now.

I ran 14 / 15 pounds in my GST for along time while the T-25 was on it. After 14 pounds it felt like the turbo was just pushing hot-air into the car and not really making any power-gains. The turbo belongs on the small 49cc' pocket rocket or something...

I'd also had an exhaust system and filter atleast to let the more forced boost move along better. I wouldn't feel comfortable just turnin' the boost up on a car that has problems breathing stock... the turbos are cheap if they got anyways, and ya' could learn a thing or two from replacing one.

An MN DSMer! Rock Out! I lived in Eagan, MN a couple years ago. Nice Place. :thumb:
All my relatives live up there.

Anyways, I am going to be visting the Twin Cities in a couple weeks. I want check out the import scene while I am up there, so I just wanted to know where do I go on weeknights to see some action?

No more than 16 psi. However, the stock bov will leak at about 12 psi or so. So you will need to upgrade that if you want to push 16psi.

You guys say the blower is going to die at 14/15psi. Do you mean it will die if you drive it at that boost setting all the time??? It wouldn't die that quickly if you just up it when you race. Would it???

Anything above 16 psi on a t25 will significantly shorten the life of the turbo if kept at that setting for long time. But no it probally wouldn't die right away if you turn it up past 16 once in awhile to race. Boosting at 16+psi will also strain the stock fuel system as well.

think of brake pads, if u keep going to 100 then slamming the brakes the brakes will last a very short time, but once in a while it wont hurt them too much if u do slam them, but they still get hurt

same thing with the turbo, constantly pushing it to 16+ psi would wear it quickly, but once in a while it can handle it.

Hey Apple Valley, MN here, not many nice places that I've seen that has good hang outs. Well there is a McDonald's but all the 16 year old kids that had mommy and daddy buy them a car hang out there, go to St.Paul and go to Porkys and park off the block. Cool place to look around. Have fun bud. :thumb:

i have a 97 gst.... basic mods... t25 im at 16psi and been at 16psi since 52k miles now i have 109k miles and my t26 is still pulling nicely... after 5k rpms my 16 psi drops to about 11 and stays there. but thats becuase the t25 can't hold boost till redline... my tubro still pulls nice.... just wanted to share my experience

Before anything get a boost guage, after that a Upper Intercooler pipe, and a BOV that won't leak(Greddy makes some good ones, or you can always get a 1st gen BOV)

After that you can easily boost 15psi on the T25.

dont let these guys scare you... throw on an air filter and boost away, your turbo will be fine as long as you keep oil in the engine. My buddy ran 19psi on the t25 for close to 2 years, we took it off just recently with barely any shaft play and no damage to the turbo after 90k miles on his car. I wouldnt reccommed 19psi, 16 is just smarter cooling wise, but higher can be done. And my stock bov would hold boost at 14 psi, so when i boosted at 17 it held it for a few seconds and then dropped to 14 until the turbo ran out of steam and dropped to 10  ... have fun

i just put on a mbc and it is set for 14psi, but i think im gonna turn it up to 15-16psi because that is what the bcs used to let it go to.

You will be needing a new BOV to run higher boost levels. I have a very clean 1G BOV at a good price in the classifieds. PM me if interested. :talon:
