Hi, I have a 97 eclipse and i just put on a s16g turbo. I have a 190 fuel pump and just bought an safc. How much boost can i safely run with the stock injectors? another question is how much boost am I running? I dont trust my boost gauge, but what i do know is that i have the slowboy racing s16g turbo and have not touched the boost yet so it should be w/e they send it as...

Upgrade injectors. You need to make sure your giving enough fuel. 550c r good for what power your looking at.

Why do you think your boost guage is bad?

I would look to run around 12-15psi with stock injectors. You can go more, but you dont want to.

You got the fuel pump which is good, get a high flow intake, and exhaust. Soon as you can grab a manual boost controller.

These are vital tools you need to maintain your car and keep the engine safe from all that boost. A car creating mystery boost lvls is dangerous.

GSX6bolt is exactly right get a different boost guage and buy a boost controller and injectors then you should be fine for like upto 17 or so with a dyno tune i wouldnt push that if it ant been tuned on a dyno though. :thumb:

Well it all depends, on stock injectors, its not safe but you can run about 16 or so like said. Now I wouldn't go through the trouble of tunning without injectors, if you go with some new injectors tune it and you can do 17+.

im sorry, i thought you would look at my mods... i do have a turbo back exhaust, intake, logger, bov, intake pipe...

Okay, my bad. Use the logger.
These questions are horrible for the simple reason that no two cars are alike.
If I put all of your stuff on my car I might be able to run 20 psi, while you could only run 15. It all depends on how mechanically sound the car is. Use your logger to monitor your knock counts, timing advance, injector duty cycle, etc. Getting a wideband would help alot with this, but a dyno tune would work as well. Turn up the boost a psi at a time and see how the car reacts until you've got it at a good safe setting.

even if your car is mechanically sound you would not be able to run 20psi on stock injectors with pump gas

What kind of boost gauge do you have? Hopefully not stock, if it is then get an aftermarket one ASAP, as the stock one is inaccurate. Just double checking to see if you have an aftermarket one.

Based on my own personal real-world experience, I ran the following boost levels with a 16G variant:

Stock pump/stock injectors/stock SMIC - 15psi
190 pump/stock injectors/stock SMIC - 17 psi
190 pump/550cc injectors/Dejon SMIC - 22 psi

Make sure you have a good MBC (a ball and spring unit like the one Buschur sells is inexpensive and works great). Also, I second the post above by Snowbordin8. You need an aftermarket boost gauge to see where you really are as the stock gauge only estimates boost levels.

Hope that helps,

Andy

The point I am trying to make is that there is not a set answer. It depends on the car.
I'm not trying to be mean. I'm making sure people understand the fact that these cars are not Hondas. You can't just bolt up a bunch of crap and go.
I don't like these questions at all. Simply because what works for one person could cause damage to another depending on the condition of the car.

to answer the first question, i have some crappy ebay type boost gauge that came with the car. Also, i know there is no set answer, but i like to hear what people who also have eclipses have done so i kno what is too high or low. It is good to see a lot of people basically saying the same thing because it shows enough people must have had either problems with higher boost than 15-17 and that i should stay around 16.

You want to be safe I wouldnt recomend running over 15-16 psi on stock injectors and fule pump. Good luck with your modding and get some injucters and start making some good hp :thumb:
