How loud is an external dump?

OK, so i how would you go about getting one, i'm confused somewhat still, is it an attachment, or another type of o2 housing
any help would be appreciated :thumb:

it's an o2 housing that routes the tube from the wastegate down and dumps it to the atmosphere instead of connecting to the rest of the exhaust and going to the dp.

if you've got something like a hks bov you'll easily still hear it. in fact i may look into an external setup for my 16g sometime. i kinda like the idea, and my friend with one on his 14b'ed awd makes an awesome sound. it also runs like a madman.

Well, I had an extra O2 housing in the garage, and I was bored. I went to the speed shop and got some mandrel bent pipe, used my trusty cut off wheel on the housing, and made myself one. I did notice a bit more pull.

Lets get this straight. It does not totally eliminate boost creep but it helps though. My turbo creeped stait to 20psi (hallman mbc set at 15psi) before dumptube. Now, it holds 15psi until I get to around 5000rpm and it still goes up to 20psi and hits fuel cut. I have a aftermarket o2 dump which I ported myself.

Yeah thats pretty graphic, i think im goin to have nightmares about this LOL......

What was that?? I can't hear very good anymore.
I am not a fan of the external fart..
I wish I got the o2 that routed back in .
Another benefit is looking around for fuzz before you wot.

ok ive been tring to figure out if i want internal or external and from watching the video, the exhaust sounds louder then the dump or is that the dump, this is on the white car the first video or is the pshhhhhhhh his bov because it doesnt sound like it

The dump is the "SSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!" that kicks in when he hits boost. You can still hear his exhaust because the exhaust is facing the camera. But from the inside and for the most part, all your going to hear is external dump. Id opt to not go with an external dump IMO....

made my own too. havent got a chance to put her on, but it should be funnn

So can you run an external dump on the stock internal wastegate or no i have bin look into the RnRracing o2 elim with external dump i have heard mixed opinions about it what do you all think.? thanks
Matt

You can run an external dump on the internal gate without any problems. The only thing that is different is where the exhaust gas is venting to. Like my previous post, I just modified a spare o2 housing that I had laying around into an external dump.

I love having all the metal working tools and welding equipment around. It makes things so much easier when I want to fab up my own parts.

Quick kinda off topic question. This is pretty much like an external wastegate dump right, sorry I have to ask Im really tired. Also, if it is would running an external wastegate with a 14b be pointless? Im going full t3/t4 but that is later, cant afford it now.

one of the guys in our local club just ran a 12.8 on a 14b with a external wastegate dummped to the atmosphere. so i'd say it couldn't hurt any :thumb:

Looks like its just a Euro/DTM style muffler.

That car makes over 400 whp on pump gas. That is at least a 3 inch exhaust system, possibly the 3.5 inch that he has on there now. I bet it is the older 3 inch though.

Mavisky: I ran 12.8 on a 14b, with an internal wastegate, 450's, stock rubber IC piping, stock ecu..... You definately don't need an external.

I know of at least 3 other people who have run mid 12's on the 14b with minimal mods.

i'll agree that you don't need it, but it can't hurt any. high 12's on a 14b is just a matter of decent supporting mods and driving it well.

i believe his mods are hacked mas, greddy e-manage, 550cc injectors, water injection, stock sidemount, thermal turbo back, tial external dump, act2600. he has an odd setup, but its because he wanted to have all the supporting mods ready for a bigger turbo when it came time. he still doesn't drive it like a racecar and its a full time daily driver with a gorgeous leather interior. the real pisser is that his car only has 50,000 some miles on it
