How hot does the valve cover get?

I see paint at autozone that says rated to 1200. Is that good enough?
anyone know how hot the heat shields for the exhaust and turbo get?
I know what EGTs are but I'm hoping things are a bit cooler once it hits the heatshield.

That's plenty. It won't get much hotter than your oil until you park and the rest of the engine heat soaks it. Maybe 300°F tops.

That is the paint most people use for the VC lettering. You should be fine with the local stuff if you are thinking of using it.

I used 500 degree engine enamel for the valve cover, and 1200 degree Rustoleum hi-temp paint for the heatshields. On the valve cover, i used regular black paint on the letters and it's held up fine.

i also painted my valve cover with 500degree paint and its worked out for me just fine!

Cool. I'll use 500 paint on the valve cover since there is a larger selection at my local autozone and try the 1200 paint on the heat shields.
