Ok , i finally going to clean up the engine bay a little. Cleaned here and there . K i had to return something at part store , of course i cant just get money back so im like hmmmmmmmmmm. Walking around looking at stuff i dont need but i have credit buring through my pocket. I see this HI-TEMP PAINT made for headers and Exhaust manifolds. Now im like that heat shield is such a eye sore so i put two and two toegther. Its a black color no bling bling i just want it to look ok. I wasnt going to primer i was going to maybe soak it over night in some cleaner of some sort then dry and put a couple coats of this paint. Just worried it might burn off but paint says good for 1500 F , what do you think

i wanna get mine chromed, anyone ever do that? the chrome should be able to withstand 1500* i would think.

I painted my heatshield with 500* silver and it turned gold! (Pic in my gallery)

LOL , well i also have the both rad fans (high) on a switch , so for sitting in traffic and such i will flip the fans on to keep things a littler cooler im sure that will help also. Just did that tonigh

easy as pie , just ground the 20 pin on the ECU (on a 2Gen) not sure what the 1G is , check VFAQ for pinouts. I just added a switch

I painted mine w/ 1200 degree aluminum colored paint. Still looks perfect after a month or two and lots of heat. Its just that duplicolor 1200 degree stuff. Looks great so Im happy :)

Get some good quality sandpaper and just polish the heat shield.
Or custom make one.
:)

That last link GVtalon provided a link to an awsome webpage with great paint!

did you guys cure the paint ? It calls for oven (not house old) so then it says put on the motor for 60 mins ! I was going to coat it a few times, paint dry paint dry then run my motor for 60 mins?!!?

I did no oven curing w/ great results. After I put it on the next day and drove the hell out of it it got all the curing it needed. Yah shouldn't have a problem and no your car is not an oven,, 60 minutes is alot and not needed unless your going somewhere of course.

The only paint Id attempt to use is the Duplicolor 1200F in flat black. I tried the 500F in silver a long time ago and it came out gold like 1993Eclipse GS's did.

One thing that worked for me and stayed good looking, was to use steel wool or an SOS pad and scrub the holy hell out of the shield. Stayed shiney for a long time.
