How hard is it to swap from a 420a to a 4g63???

I just got a 2g eclipse (96 gs) and i was wondering how hard it was to swap to a 4g63 because i have heard that it is hard to do for some reason.

The 420a motor is flipped COMPLETELY opposite to that of the 4g63, plus you'd need the 4g63's tranny, nevermind all the custom work you'd have to do.

If you had $5,000 and could be without a running car for about a month, would you do the swap, or something else? I think I'd do something else... anything else.

Anything's possible with enough time and money, but you should know that is one of the most irrtiating questions in the entire DSM community. The only reason to do it is if you have absolutlely no challenges left with DSMs. :shrug

Thanks for the help. The only reason that i was asking was that i have a connection to an import salvage place and i could probably get the motor and anything salvagable from a turbo eclipse. So u guys are pretty much saying that it would be good enough to build up the 420a?

The advice I've picked up over the few years I've frequented these boards is either 1.) Buy a turbo Kit or 2.) Sell your Current N/A and Find a suitable Turbo Model. But I suppose if you have the money and the knowledge, anything is possible.

Well I don't think it really matters if the current engine is flipped completely around since its still the same engine bay as turbo cars. You can get the complete swap from here for $1,400. Then you would probably need motor mounts off a gst/gsx. You would also need a gst/gsx ecu to go the engine. Your non turbo ecu wont comply with it. So I am unsure of all this custom work they are talking about or how it cost $5000 unless I am just totally off by these calculations. Or you could do the obvious, just like KlipzSpyderGST stated. Sell it or buy a turbo kit.
