Ask Me, Virginia
Can anyone tell me how far the fork is supposed to move when pressing the clutch pedal?

This answer should go pretty far in helping me determine whether or not I need to drop the tranny after my recent clutch install.

Should the fork reach or almost reach the passenger side?

Thanks!

Yes, the fork should almost reach the passenger side of the hole when you press the clutch pedal in.

From my recent tranny problem, if the fork is HITTING the passenger side of the hole u will need to drop the tranny to see whats wrong, but if its not hitting the passenger side its good on that part.

What problem are u having?

I'd say it is about 3/4 inch away from hitting maybe as little as 1/2 inch. Isn't that not far enough?

The shift fork need to be set in the middle of the fork hole. not to the right or the left.

Not when pressing the clutch pedal in all the way. When the clutch pedal is pressed the fork is supposed to go towards the passenger side. Exactly how far I am trying to determine.

I don't believe the throw is very far for the stock slave cylinder. Mine is apart right now or I would go measure it for you.

The thing is if the fork is sitting in the right location with the clutch engaged there is no need to drop the trans again.

If the throw is too short then the problem is in the clutch hydraulics or pedal assembly.

To anyone else looking at this that is confused he is asking how far the slave cylinder should extend and move the clutch fork when you push the clutch in.
So if you know how far that is or are willing to measure it then please chime in here.

Thanks for trying to mitigate what I am asking. I am to the point where I probably want to get an extended slave cylinder to see if things get better. That way I can at least determine whether or not this is a hydraulic issue without spending alot of $$.

I can remove the extended slave once I determine that it is a hydraulic problem.

I am also getting to the point that I probably want to take pictures of the clutch fork at various points.

In fact, I think I am going to do it even if my camera takes crappy pics. BRB
