how easy is it to bolt on a Evo 16G?

It's an easy install. Four hours max (if you don't break any bolts/studs) but you will need an install kit with a J-pipe, new oil return, & new oil feed line. You could probably get away with running 15 - 16 psi on the stock setup with the addition of a 190 lph fuel pump.

I know i have a 1g so it's a little different. I am running 14 psi w/ 450's and stock fuel pump. As long as you have it turned down its all good. A data logger is good too just to make sure your not knocking like a siv. PM me wit any ?'s

you have 2g, you'll need oil bolts for the turbo and those you can find at the dealer make sure that you look for 1g oil bolts .
i hope you have fuel modes too
good luck

i bought my evolll 16g and 2g install kit all for about 750$ with shipping right off good ol ebay took me about 3 and a half hours went pretty smooth

I know i have a 1g but ive helped put one on a 2g as well. Its pretty straight forward. Like someone already said unless you run into some broken studs/bolts you should be ok. But remember your workin on a dsm. Something always goes wrong :D

Ya its a fairly easy at home install, just need some basic hand tools, antiseize, thread sealent, a torque wrench etc. There are a couple links on the www.vfaq.com that will explain everything. Just rember that if you are on your stock fuel system keep the boost below 15 psi. I'm still waiting on a part before I can install my upgraded fuel system so I'm currently running the stock parts. Last night I did a pull and since it was nice and cold I had boost creep to just over 15 psi (base boost set ~13) & I logged 31.5 lb/min of airflow and the injector duty cycle was 107% (I let off at 7000)

As darren just said DO NOT FORGET THE ANTI SIEZE!!!! I didnt use any on mine and all 4 manifold to turbo bolts snapped and 2 o2 housing to turbo bolts siezed. Its a 30 second step that could save you an hour later down the road if you ever have to take it back off.

Just for clarification, the piping is only needed for a 2g, correct? A Big16G (EVO III w/7cm^2 housing) will simply bolt right up to the former location of the 14b on a 1g?

Honestly...it only took me like 1 hour to do the swap on my 2g. Note i did have an install kit too though. It really isn't that bad. If you take out the radiator it makes things tons easier..but thats just my opinion. You can do it with it in no prob...but i didn't want to hurt the fins..and the extra room was :thumb:

BIG, BIG, FYI. Port the turbo and upgrade the waste gate flapper before you put the turbo on. I have serious boost creep. Now I have to pull everything off the car and have the trubo ported and the waste gate flapper upgraded. Save your self some time and do the porting now. It will save you in the future. I can not properly tune my fuel curve because of the boost creep. I wish someone would have told me ahead of time and saved me all these headaches.

i'm having the same problem  i'm going to sell mine and get a bigger turbo. :thumb:

Well, I have mine externaly gated..and so far i have not seen much for boost creep. But then again i havn't driven it much because me ecu is out getting socketed so..

The most mine has ever crept was just over 15 psi & it was pretty dame cold so... I have the 34 mm flapper & I've ported everything :thumb: As soon as the fuel system goes in it'll be turned up to 18 psi anyways :sneaky:

Just port the o2 housing to get rid of the creep. And I read the 34mm flapper was bad for some reason.

I asked Forced Performance about the upgraded waste gate flapper and they said they found it not neccesary, so thanks for the heads up. I asked them because I saw the option on there to 16G's but not on the EVOIII.

my install only took 40 min

and YOU WILL GET CREEP NO MATTER WHAT ON THE EVO ;)

That's flying dood. Well I guess it's possible...I ported everything so it ended up taking like 2 days for me LOL

ok i just did my install...
pretty simple.
make sure you have the oil feed
I reused oil return.
I trashed my water lines, didn't use them.
the lower intercooler piping didn't reach the 1g jpipe, i cut my intercooler piping and used a 7inch muffler piping. Works great, now just need to bead it.

I am installing my FP B T28 ... question how did u NOT use the water lines? You just didn’t connect them? There are 4x sockets on the turbo, 2x oil and 2 x coolant right?
